How to Draw People: Step-by-Step Lessons for Figures and Poses Kindle Edition

I'm learning how to draw late in my life, mixing several styles trying to find my own. I think my natural style will end up being a mixture of the old EC Comics style mixed with some manga influences. I think this book will help me create my own style if I follow the lessons in this book. It won't be easy, but when it comes together in the end it will be worth it.

Eric Barrett covers areas such as gesture drawing, torso drawing, head, arm and leg. With each area he covers structure, muscles, and male/female differences, lighting, and shading. There are so many practice situations set up for you to try what he is teaching. He also covers how clothing interacts with the model and what you need to consider. Love this book.

I picked up this book because I have rekindled my passion for drawing and picked it up as a steadier hobby. What I love about this book is that it starts at the most rudimentary level and builds itself up in a manner that's almost seamless [I have bought other books that made me feel like I missed something]. This book DEFINITELY is worth at the very least looking through once for beginners, intermediate level skill levels, and maybe some folks who are highly skilled who seek to get back to basics.

This book is great for beginners to more advanced artists, giving easy study guidance to any artist wishing to improve their skill at drawing the human form. I bought it for my step-granddaughter but I might purchase one for myself next time!

I have found most drawing books frustrating, even Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. For someone who is reasonably comfortable drawing, this may not be the best book, but I'm not a person like that. Also, I am studying mathematics so I need something that can "coexist comfortably" with that. My interest in drawing stems from my small scale sculpture (I seem to have some feel for that), my hopes to be able someday to work with an engineer or scientist on some layperson book/program, (including manga which boomer me is reading to help me understand today's generation), and remembering an experience in which I could not convey an idea of mine because I could not draw and words did not work nor photos. Different approaches work with different people, there is no "perfect" way to teach something. (I actually once received a commendation from the Army Reserve for teaching a set of medical symptoms by acting them out in a very "hammy" way. I got teased for it, but they were teasing me by reciting the very symptoms I was trying to teach. Success!) If you can identify with my reasons for wanting to learning to draw and why I like this book, then this may be the drawing book for you. If not, then you might want to try something else.

My daughter is into drawing and wanted a book for reference and learning some tricks. She apparently liked it and is actually using it so its a good buy.

the books is okay for someone who is looking to learn anatomy. however don't expect it to be easy. the way they pose the figures and everything and how they expect you to be able to picture the figures are not easy...this is definitely a book i do not recommend if you literally just started wanting to learn anatomy as you will get frustrated. there are plenty of sites and youtube channels that offer great explanations so start there first and then buy this book to get practice

Me gusta la forma en como te va llevando paso a paso y te recomienda que no continues a la siguiente leccion hasta que domines la que estas practicando, ademas hacer ejercicios con fotografias, por que considero que es la mejor forma de aprender, copiando de la realidad. La forma en que simplifica el esqueleto es muy buena y te recomienda que no detalles tanto por que no sera una referencia para un medico, y mas y mas consejos. Excelente libro.

I just recently bought this book with some knowledge of anatomy but not a lot. I was really wanting to build my knowledge of how to draw certain aspects of the body such as feet and hands. I wasnt sure on purchasing how in-depth the book would be but it goes into great depth and explains how to draw everything from hands to feet and muscle structure to skeleton. The only thing I didn't like about this was the fact that it is quite pricey but other than that it's a great buy
