Product Description Continuing the very successful From The Vault series of classic, previously unreleased Rolling Stones live shows this release is taken from their performance at the Tokyo Dome in 1990, one of ten shows from the 14th to the 27th February at the venue which were the culmination of the Steel Wheels World Tour. These were the first concerts The Rolling Stones ever performed in Japan, their previous attempt to tour there in the early seventies having fallen through. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show. Nothing less than superb
With twenty-four songs (twenty-three plus Continental Drift intro before the concert) and two and a quarter hours of music on two CD’s to listen to or listen and watch with the DVD, this is another fantastic instalment in the From The Vault series. The Stones really are on top form having had a couple of months off at the end of the North American leg of the tour. It shows just how well rehearsed and competent they were by the time they were in Tokyo. The five band members (which then still included Bill) were joined on stage by another ten musicians and singers who together give this concert a truly big and impressive sound. The sound on the CD’s has been newly mixed and the footage presented on the DVD has been carefully restored. The two CD’s have the same songs on them that are presented on the DVD.The screen shape on the DVD is a more square shape than most of us are used to with more up to date cinema and television presentations but the picture quality is very good. It is though, the sound that really matters and it is nothing less than superb! The CD/DVD package is very elegantly presented in a cardboard and plastic case that opens up and then opens again to show the two CD’s and the DVD together with black and white photographs of Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie. Together with more images on the outside of the case there is also a sixteen page booklet with yet more photographs and information about the concert.Track ListingCD I01 Continental Drift (0:51)02 Start Me Up (4:01)03 Bitch (3:41)04 Sad Sad Sad (4:24)05 The Harlem Shuffle (4:22)06 Tumbling Dice (4:26)07 Miss You (6:28)08 Ruby Tuesday (3:50)09 Almost Hear You Sigh (5:16)10 Rock And A Hard Place (5:30)11 Mixed Emotions (5:30)12 Honky tonk Women (4:59)13 Midnight Rambler (10:54)14 You Can’t Always Get What You Want (7:30)CD II01 Can’t Be seen (5:39)02 Happy (4:27)03 Paint It Black (4:05)04 2000 Light Years From Home (7:07)05 Sympathy For The Devil (7:42)06 Gimme shelter (8:06)07 It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (4:26)08 Brown Sugar (4:33)09 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction (9:27)10 Jumpin’ Jack Flash (8:36)The DVD has these same songs in the same order. Having restored this concert with better video and audio quality is worth spending the cash ...
Had a bootleg copy of this show which was grainy in video, audio,so-so. Having restored this concert with better video and audio quality is worth spending the cash on and adding to one's list of Stone's "From the Vault" series. Note worthy is that this may have been one of the last tours that Bill Wyman was on since he left the Stones in 1992. This was the end of the "Steel Wheels" tour which had started in August '89 in the U.S. shows the band is still fine form and give a great performance.

Tokyo Rocks and The Stones Roll...
Another in what's proving to be an absorbing series of the Rolling Stones 'From The Vault' releases of live album and DVD sets from Eagle Rock, I was (apropos of nothing), surprised to find that the Stones had never before toured Japan until the 'Steel Wheels' jaunt of 1990. I found the 'Live At Roundhay Park Leeds 1982' set and the 'Hampton Coliseum 1981' sets good, but samey. The band were in good form, but the 'Tokyo Dome' set edges those by dint of the inclusion of some rarely-aired tracks, such as 'Ruby Tuesday', which is rendered beautifully here. The versions of 'Tumbling Dice' and 'Miss You' are tremendous too. The Stones have such a vast catalogue of hits that it must be hard for them to work new our more deep-catalogue items into their show, but there's no hint of the routine about these performances. Bob Clearmountain's sound mix is clean and clear without draining the energy or power from the band performances - the snare drum has a satisfying crunch, Bill Wyman's nimble bass (especially on 'Miss You') anchors the bottom end, and the mesh of Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood's guitars is pleasingly abrasive. I bought the vinyl / DVD version of the release - vinyl is the best format to me - and I liked the packaging on all of the 'From The Vault' sets, and I really enjoy this set. I'm not that bothered about the filmed show - the audio is what does it for me, and 'Live At The Tokyo Dome' is top notch.

The Greatest Rock&Roll band of all time
Stones prove once again that live, they are in a class of their own. Recorded during their Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle your of 1989/90, God, was it that long ago I saw this tour! They really are untouchable live and will in my opinion never be bettered. It is however a very sad indictment on the bands that hav followed since the 80's.

Great - I've been playing it all the time
Great - I've been playing it all the time! I don't care how old they are - they are still the best rock and roll group in the world and Mick Jaggers still has a great voice.

Keith is on the left which is not right
The vinyl and package are nice, but Keith Richards is on the wrong side. They have the stereo channels reversed and Keith's guitar is heard on the left where all Stones fans know Keith should be on the right. Same on the CD, but I believe the blu-ray has it right. I heard that Eagle Rock is replacing these defective versions for vinyl and CD.

Queens Live At Wembley, Genesis' The Way We Walk, U2s Zoo TV, Pink Floyds Pulse oder McCartneys Get Back anschaue, dann sehen die auch nicht besser aus.
