Not a fan
I have thick, curly, wavy, unruly hair and usually use a heavy hold water-based pomade. Lately I thought I'd try some oil-based ones.I'm not a fan of this. It is very, very waxy but despite that it didn't provide sufficient hold for me. It's difficult for me to wash off my hands fully, even with dish soap. It's also proving difficult to wash out of my hair. I've tried repeatedly shampooing and using an alcohol hair tonic but it's still not fully coming out.The only positives for me is it doesn't seem to have any scent to it at all which I prefer and it controlled frizz.

Great spiking product
I purchased this after my son did. I have always used Redken rewind to spike my hair. I really liked this as well and it will also add moisture or oil to the hair without making your hair greasy

I would have purchased a different pomade that did contain wax like Sweet Georgia Brown or Nu Nile
The Dax Green and Gold is very, very good pomade. I don't know why it's not talked about as much. I've been really impressed how it adds volume to my hair. I think it's one of the most underrated pomades on the market. What's really great about it is the price. When you compare it to many of the super expensive home brews that are popping up left and right, Dax Green and Gold is the much better deal.

Great pomade for the price
My son's review of this product:"Dax Green and Gold is a pretty good Pomade for the price. The scent is a light pine. It isnt as heavy as products like Murray's, but it still holds up a pompadour in warmer weather."

5 star buy for sure.
I love this stuff. If it cost more I'd give it 4 stars but it's a 5 star product for price and performance.

Hard to wash
If you use it for two or more consecutive days w/o washing your hair, it became so hard then to wash it. My anti dandruff shampoo couldnt wash it properly after the second attempt.

Decent overall but look elsewhere for less toxic alternatives
Its not as strong as wave and groom, but its easier to apply and easier to wash out, so while it is good for short hair, it will probably do well for neater styles in medium to longer hair. In my opinion it has a more pleasent scent than wave and groom. It was a little shinier than the "medium shine" suggests although like most waxes it wears thin as the day goes on and the shine wears down. The only real concerns I have is how it compares to the ingredients list of a much older tin of wave and groom that I still have kicking around. I think its about 8 years old, but will still expire 6 years after the green and gold tin. They could just be making up the dates which is the only reasonable explanation. But the ingredients for the older wave and groom are: petrolatum, mineral oil, lonolin and fragrance. Compare that to green and gold: petrolatum, fragrance, cera alba, jojoba seed oil, safflower seed oil, olive fruit oil, ci47000, amyl cinnamyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate, eugenol, geraniol, butyphenyl methyl propianol, linalool. Overall a decent product, but if you're after a less toxic alternative to convetional hair styling products, look elsewhere.
