Holy Spirit And Power (Pure Gold Classic) Paperback – July 1, 2003

I have not read it yet but I did read the back cover synopsis and it is very interesting. It is my next read. I am sure I will love it.

The ease of reading Wesley's thoughts is greatly enhanced by this new edition. I no longer have to bother with outdated phraseology & wording which has passed away or changed in meaning in the intervening ages since originally written. The summations seem to be good also. I do have a niggling question in my mind about how much of the personal biases of the 'translator' may have seeped into the presentation, but that would be there in my mind no matter who made the changes from Wesley's original wording!

Wish I had read it earlier in my life.This is a wonderful book to educate the serious Christian.I love John Wesley and gain so much from his writings. All he says and writes is biblical.It is interesting to understand from this book what many evangelical Christians mean when they randomly ask you if you are a serious or real Christian and if you were or are born again. You get an understanding from this book what they mean in real theological terms.This book will hopefully help you to be a more discerning and mature Christian.. And it may help you find a theologically sound and more joyous denomination.

I love it.As dead as the church is now;I never would have dreamed that John Wesley believed and taught the power and anointing of the Holy Ghost!!I would have given it more stars but they only had 5.He talks about the gifts of the Spirit and the power of God.He gives history and reason not just feelings.He speaks of the necessity of the operation of The Holy Ghost in our lives and how we should be more yielded.And also the blessings that can be ours.It is a GREAT read!!!

You don't have to be a Methodist in order to appreciate John Wesley. John Wesley shows us how to make what the Bible says about living godly lives become real in our own lives. I have read the sermons in this collection as they were originally written by John Wesley. Yes, in the original writings, the sentences are longer; but, in my opinion, not "that" much longer. To read the sermons the way Wesley wrote them is the most meaningful. But "The Holy Spirit and Power" does not take away from the original meanings of John Wesley. If someone has trouble dealing with "long" sentences, I highly recommend this book.

This is a condensed version of Wesley's sermons in regard to the Holy Spirit. It is in updated language. The plus is there is a CD so you can listen to the sermons. The editor footnotes, so you can tell where the various parts came from. This is a good "one source" to either start one's collection, or be added to an existing. It is good for the scholar or the curious reader, to have in a concise product Wesley's thoughts on the Holy Spirit.

What a wonderful find. I have been reading and studying Wesley for many years. Sometimes it has been difficult reading his sermons due to the archaic language. Also, I discovered material that I had not seen although it was available. A great read and grounds for further study. Recommend it highly for our whole church.

This anointed book will guide you how to keep your eyes and your heart focused on one and only: JESUS, the author and the finisher of our faith !

There was nothing I `disliked` about what was written in this book - it was just simply an extremely basic book. Pretty much everything in here is stuff that you generally know within your first year of your Christian walk. There is absolutely no deep theology in this book. I found it to be very boring and a waste of my money.
