A book every teacher/parent should read!
I LOVE this book because the "bad seed" reminds me of my son. I don't believe there are any "bad kids" in the world but I'm sure kids look at themselves as bad if that is all they ever hear. I love how this story gives a sympathetic backstory on how he got "so bad" and how he is trying to do better and change his bad ways. Even though my son isn't perfect, he sure does try to do good and his behavior improves when people notice the POSITIVE instead of the negative. I absolutely love the last lines of the book where the other seeds are gossiping (another lesson) saying, "Hey! There goes that bad seed," and another seed sticks up for him and says, "Actually, he isn't that bad anymore." Then the "bad seed" turns around with a smile on his face and says, "I heard that." Moral of the story.....children are always listening. Focus on the positive rather than the negative and a child's self-talk and behavior will drastically improve. My son's 2nd grade year was so negative and he was always getting into trouble. I rarely heard the good and neither did my son. His 3rd grade year was amazing. The teacher really focuses on pointing out his good choices and what a difference that made in my son's attitude toward school. Thank you Jory John for writing this book. I also love the book, "I Love You Already" which teaches readers about friendship, love, patience, loyalty and forgiveness. :)

Great Story with Such a Valuable lesson
My 7 year old is reading all these books. He loves this one the most because of the many lessons he learnt from this short story. 1. We should never allow the bad experiences we have to change us. 2. Changing from bad to good is not a light switch so instead choose happiness first and happiness will encourage us to do good things. 3. When others speak badly about us, allow those words to effect positive change instead of wallowing in negative feelings. 4. It’s always good to look into ourselves and make a decision to fix the things that need work. And 5; Keep doing good, soon enough someone will see the changes and

An Instant Favorite in our Household!
My 3.5 year old daughter loves story time. During these COVID-19 extended days at home, I wanted to get some new books. Both the author John Jory and Pete Oswald the Illustrator of this book are fantastic. This book is part of a three book series. I first purchased the The Cool Beans, followed by the Bad Seed and then finally the Good Egg to complete the set. My daughter's favorite of the three book series is the Bad Seed, followed by the Cool Beans, and finally the Good egg but she likes them all. I highly recommend this entire series. As a mom, I like that the books are also educational. They touch on emotions, feelings, how those emotions/behaviors are received and how you can alter change your emotions. It also gives them great life examples of good, bad and cool behaviors which is great with navigating a toddler through all the different emotions that they go through. She also understands that you can be happy, sad, angry. I like that the Cool Beans touches on kindness and acceptance of others. Kids need kindness! Three Book Series The Cool Beans (My daughter's second favorite) The Bad Seed (My daughter's favorite of the set) The Good Egg (My daughter's third favorite)
