Great fruitcake that I hope never changes
Mom hated fruitcake so as a kid, so naturally, us kids hated fruit cake too. Fruitcake became a joke in our house at holidays, kind of like the "Life" cereal commercial. Once I left the house and traveled the country (and the world), I started trying new things. I don't know where or when it was, but one year I had the opportunity to try Claxton's. I think it was on sale, and I bought some and gave it a shot. Whoa! This was actually super delicious, rich and sweet. The candied fruit (usually the part we hated) was actually tasty. Claxton's fruit is delicious, the fruit has a hint of that aroma and flavor that turns some people off, but not much. The candied fruit is delicious. Then there's the nuts and cake part, all tasty, nothing weird. It's also super moist. Sorry mom, I really like fruitcake. Is Claxton's high end expensive fruitcake, no, but it is high quality and worth every penny. They have a recipe that's iconic, I'm so glad they haven't changed anything. You can rely on the taste. Claxton's is a good fruitcake to offer people that hate fruitcake. The only problem is fruitcake haters a are pretty stubborn lot. You probably won't change their minds, but that's OK, they're missing out, Claxton's great!

Delicious & great value!
Delicious!! Best fruitcake I’ve ever had other than what Grandma made. It was packed with a variety of chunky candied fruits and whole nuts, not just a mesh of raisins and an occasional cherry with a blend of indistinguishable crushed nuts. Surprisingly, this quality product was very fairly priced and a great value. A fruitcake that I had purchased from a local specialty bakery didn’t come close to the goodness and quality found in Claxston’s. Will definitely purchase again and plan to stock up. Highly recommend. BTW— I very rarely ever review products, but I was motivated to do so because this was so good.

Tastes great
Well, first I haven't had a piece of fruit cake in many years, my granny made the best white fruit cake ever and I miss it every at 73 years old. I just can seem to replicate her skills with the fruit cake. But, this Claxton fruit cake tastes really good, lots of fruit, very moist and just over all good. I got the box with 3 bars. I have already eaten half of one of the bars, but these things last FOREVER! So I will have a nice taste of fruitcake whenever I want it.

Definitely the Fruit Cake to buy
Lived up to the expectations of being very good, fresh and extremely tasty. If you have that desire for fruit cake, this one is recommended. Ideal for the holidays and / or a gift.

Nice, dense fruitcake loaded dry fruit and nuts, but a little crumbly
Very nicely made and packaged. Taste is very good, loaded with candied fruit and nuts. A little smaller in dimensions than I'd expected, due to high density and moisture. It was different, more dense than the fruitcakes my mother used to make. One aspect of the cake was that it was crumbly when cut-I wasn't able to cut it into slices, Also, I couldn't taste any rum flavor but that was not a real problem.

Delicious! And just as good as getting them locally.
I've been eating Claxton Fruitcakes since the 1950's and absolutely love them. They are so moist and are not ''bread-y" like other fruitcakes. My local grocery store has always stocked them in the Christmas season and I would get a year's supply and freeze all but one. But this year they haven't had any. I decided, with some trepidation, to try from Amazon. I shouldn't have worried - they are perfect. No difference in product or quality than what I would have gotten locally.

Thanks for the memories!
Excellent fruit cake. Have not had fruit cake in 50 years. My dad was a politician and would receive turkeys, hams, liquor, fruit cakes etc. Most of the fruit cakes were not good. One we received each year came in a round metal container. It was dark and delicious. My dad would add a little brandy. My mom said, he ruined it. I liked it with or without the brandy. The Claxton dark fruit cake reminds me of the tasty fruit cake 50 years ago. Thanks Claxton from my family. We enjoyed your fruit cake.

Good choice
A whole lot of candied fruit. I would prefer a little more cake. Good value as fruit cakes go. Moist, and delicious.
