A Solid Growing Guide For ALL Of Alaska
We moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 2015 and although we're somewhat experienced cold climate growers (Montana), the prospect of growing our own food here presented some challenges that we knew we'd have to figure out solutions for. We looked for this book locally but had a lot of difficulty finding it, so ended up purchasing from Amazon. (Turns out, Holm Town nursery stocks it, but we learned this after the fact.)I read this pretty much cover to cover and it's an extremely authoritative growing guide for anyone who is up against a cold climate, short growing season and particularly those that might see issues with permafrost. I can say that the knowledge contained within is well worth the purchase price and for us, it contributed to a bountiful 2016 garden and should continue to help us in the future. We implemented many of the techniques discussed and short of experimentation driven by our own self interests in growing, this book truly helped us shorten the learning curve of growing in such a different climate from what we are used to. I would say that there is much room for growth outside of what's discussed in the book, through experimentation and knowledge of genetics, but this book will really help to provide you techniques that can save you from many utter failures. There's no such thing as a small cabbage when grown under the midnight sun! We look forward to many more years of growing here and will keep this as a reference for the future!

Book looks super informative but I bought this “new”.BUT the books got creases and tabs? I mean thanks for tabbing it but is it typically sold this way? Seems used to me. Slightly Disappointed but hope that it’s as useful as intended.

Should be titled "Alaskan Gardening Bible"
This book is absolutely fantastic for learning all you need to know about gardening (whether flowers or veggies) in your area of Alaska. I gobbled up every page I needed (and many I did not) and I will state here that Ann D. Roberts really did her homework. To Ann I say thank you, thank you, thank you!

Gift for a New Gardener
This was a gift for our grand daughter on Kodiak Island in Alaska. She is learning to grow a garden and this helps by providing specialized information for the Alaskan.
