From the Top Plates Up: A production roof framer's journey Paperback – March 30, 2018

As a carpenter I've recommended it to every co-worker and even to my boss. It's hard to describe how much i enjoyed this book for fear that I may discredit it. I think every carpenter should read this book, and really this book is not limited to only carpenters. There's so much info packed into this book and i find myself referencing it over and over again. (Like The ten commandments of using a Skil Saw is one example, how to deal with prevalent injuries a carpenter will/may face, workout routines for a carpenter, the importance of a good work crew, and the history of production framing in general--and thats just a glimpse of stuff that's in this book. ) Will is a gifted writer, and communicator. Though this book is over 300 pages i hardly noticed it.

I like Will;s books

This book managed to capture a look into the world of framing through an amazingly talented carpenter. The journey reveals tricks and tips that will add knowledge to anyone who has a desire for advanced skills in framing. Along with the hard work of framing comes wear and tear on your body . I was pleased to read that maintaining fitness to perform this hard trade was addressed.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about a dedicated tradesmen and a wonderful life story.

Whether or not you’ve ever read any of Will Holliday’s other books or even if your not a carpenter you should read this book.There is so much wisdom and insight into this journey through life I assure you anyone could benefit from reading it.Thank you for sharing so much Will Holliday!

Will's new book provides a magnificent picture of framing at a truly professional level. It contains clear descriptions that I have not seen anywhere else.

This bad at best.The first 75 pages are devoted to the authors clothes and hammer.It doesn't get better as you go.

Will really shines through in this book. Having been a framer for the past 19 years, Will Holladay has been a mentor through those years of mine, having to go back and reference some tricky situations in the past books by Will, I found this book delightful and again very informative. He takes you through the years of a young apprentice and trying times, and to years I will come to know in the future. Very nicely written with yet more tips and tricks to a carpenter to add to his arsenal thanks to a man that has done the journey before us. Thank you Will Holladay for another fine book and paving the way for future framers and figuring out those “tricky situations”.Dave E.Minersville, PA

I have always been interested in the history and journey of those people who have reached a high level. Will's book gives you an insight of his journey. He shares a lot of the knowledge he has gained along the way. He is also honest about the mistakes he has made as well. Anyone in the construction field will appreciate and will be able to relate to a lot of what Will writes about. I recommend it highly.
