Swallow your pride
Yes, it looks totally crazy. People will stare. People will ask you about it. But when you explain that you're avoiding knee, hip, shoulder and spinal pain with this little contraption, they'll totally get it. It is SO worth it to emerge from a walking boot and not have to un-do bad habits acquired because one leg was a half-inch to an inch shorter than the other. I say this as someone who's been in a leg cast six times, for about a collective 2.5 years either non-weight bearing or in a walking boot, and I didn't discover this device until after the second surgery. One thing the manufacturer doesn't tell you: You can separate the two rubber layers to fine tune the height adjustment. They're held together with Velcro. Just pull them apart and use one rather than two if your non-casted leg is in, say, a thick-soled running shoe or hiking boot. The two layers are better for thin-soled shoes. Practice with the single layer and double layer, and stand before a full-length mirror, eyeing your hips, knees and shoulders for evenness. Close your eyes and gently swing one foot forward and back and put it down, then the other, multiple times, concentrating on whether your are reasonably even. Walk forward and back, and when ready, up and down stairs. You'll do great!

A Must-Have If You Work on Your Feet
I work all day on my feet at a retail store and I have been having problems with a tendon in my foot, which required a medical boot. When I wore it without the Even-Up I noticed a severe pain in my lower back from the height difference. I had recently had back surgery about eight months prior, and I did not want to have a repeat of the same issue, so I knew I had to order something. I ordered the even-up to even out the distance between the boot and my other foot, and it really worked! The Even Up is great, and it has a removable height pad that goes between the shoe and the even up itself. It is a must-have if you need to even up a medical boot to your other shoe and are on your feet all day at work. The only issue I have is that there is a slight problem with the even up height, I do not need that extra pad because it is too tall, but the even up itself is too short. In that case you can do one of the following: you can either put extra padding in your shoes, but it may make your foot too tight, or you can put one of those foot double pillow pads for cushioning (no arch, just cushion) between the even up and your shoe, and the weight of your shoe will keep the double air pillow/foot cushion in place. That's what I've been doing and it's worked so far.

Must have if you're in a medical boot or foot brace.
When I had foot surgery in 2018, I saw a woman come to physical therapy with an EVENup on. I asked her about it and she said it totally helped even her leg length when she was wearing a medical boot. I told her I wish would have known about it while I was wearing my boot, as the boot caused back pain due to un uneven gait. Well, now it's 2020 and my other foot is giving me fits, so my orthopedist put me in a boot. This time I was prepared! I got on Amazon right away and found the EVENup for $30.00. Let me tell you, it is money well spent! It has saved me a lot of back trouble! When I went back to the orthopedist, he was impressed with the EVENup and asked if he could take a picture of it to show his other patients. I highly recommend this to anyone who has to wear a medical boot. It really improves your gait and helps to prevent a lot of back pain.

Helps with the balancing but still a bit too thin in comparison to height on boot
My podiatrist recommended I get this to help with my balancing between feet when I walk. I have a stress fracture in my right foot so she recommended I get this to even up between the boot height so I can walk without messing up my left hip or knees. While I do see a difference and it is helpful, I wish the "Even Up" was just a little bit thicker to make it even more even but it is certainly better than none at all.

This Shoe Leveler will help avoid hip pain if wearing a high boot on the other foot
A man came up to us in the airport a few months ago when he saw my husband wearing a knee-high boot to alleviate the pain from planter's fasciitis and recommended that we buy this particular shoe leveler. He said he had developed a lot of hip pain due to the uneveness when wearing the boot for an extended time. After 4 days of the boot, my husband was starting to have pain and it resolved once he stopped wearing the boot. We bought the leveler as soon as we returned to be ready in case he had another flare-up in the future. Well, 1.5 weeks ago, he woke up to terrible pain and pulled out the boot again and put the shoe-leveler on his shoe for the opposite foot. He was thrilled on how it let him walk better and he hasn't had any hip pain. His Podiatrist saw the leveler when he went for an evaluation and said that they recommend that their patients use the levelers to avoid additional problems. I have been recommending it to anyone who is going to be wearing on of those protective boots.

No more backaches for unevenness!
I love how I am finally even with my walking boot! No more back aches!I am taking away one star because the bottom of the EvenUp is very slippery. I had to purchase additional non-slip pads (2 pack, $5 at Wal-Mart) to add to the sole of the EvenUp. For an item that is $25 and essentially foam and rubber, the sole should have more traction. Worth the purchase, though!

You will thank me later
So I have been in a boot well over 6 months. For the 1st 3 months with my knee boot my knee was KILLING me because of the uneven way that I had to walk witch also causes hip pain. This product has helped in sooooo many ways. The only con is the way it looks but when you are in constant pain/discomfort it does not matter.

Saved my hips and back when in a walking boot.
If you have to wear a walking boot, I highly recommend getting one of these for your other foot. After two days in a boot, my back was killing me from walking with a pronounced limp caused by the boot sole being higher than my shoes. Once I got the EvenUp, no more pain and so much easier to walk!I'm wearing it with a black shoe, and even though I live in Florida and am wearing shorts, no one has noticed that it's not part of my shoe. I guess with all the funky shoes out there, they think it's part of the design. lol
