HTBTD-50 Ice Master Deluxe 2-in-1 Tip Down System, black

I was excited to try a different way of fishing other than tip-ups. This looked chincy taking it out of the box. I set it up in the basement before going out and it didn't have the strength to support my ice fishing pole. Where the metal rod cradle 90's through the plastic ears from the base, the wing nuts just didn't tighten enough, the threads on the metal rod stripped, not the wing nut. I'm going to make a different base and re-thread the rod to make it work for me.

Junk!

Poorly balanced, and the plastics are of insufficient strength to be stable. This product is designed to be the cheapest thing on the market, and they have succeeded. A few dollars more buys a much better unit.

Did not work with any of my gear, kept falling over, not sturdy, screws stripped on first tightening.

Took some getting used to but it really matters on how much snow/ice you pack around the base to keep it in place. Always make sure to set up inline with the wind and screw everything tight. I open the drag way up, zip tie an old tip up flag to the rod handle, and sometimes use a slip bobber to prevent ice up issues. Once something grabs it and pulls the pole down into the "cradle", pull out additional line, crank down the drag, and rip lips!Pulled up plenty of pike last year through the ice. Will be looking to get more of these this year.

Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. It's almost impossible to balance and blows over at the slightest bit of wind. I wouldn't even give this away..I threw it in the garbage.

The one star users must not know how to use these tip downs, they work great. If it's windy out just put a little snow on the base. They stand just fine. What's nice is that you can use a regular ice fishing rod.
