When you think it can’t get better….
The Wax and Wayne series is exceptional. I can’t say that I’m truly surprised. I’ve loved nearly every Sanderson book I’ve read, and at least liked them all (with Rythym of War being the only I would relegate to the position of “like” vs. “love”). I’d say that Bands of Mourning in particular is probably in my top 3 Sanderson favorites - making it probably one of my 3 favorite books of all time.Dive in to the world of Mistborn Age 2, and hang on as you are taken on an amazing ride through time and into a world that is always revealing new things and characters to LOVE (and hate!) I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I love these books
This is my third time through the series and I still love it! Sanderson does such a wonderful job creating worlds and developing, engaging characters.

loose ends
Overall I enjoyed the series but there were a few loose threads that did not get resolved, which left the ending a bit abrupt.

Bought it on Sanderson's name alone, not disappointed!
This is the kind of stuff I've come to expect from Sanderson. The writing and character development, and world building were great. I'm really curious what's going on with Wayne, seems there is more to him than we see on the surface. Steris is probably my favorite other than Wax, and the way she changes and becomes more integral and is able to add to the group dynamic, and even become relied on is amazing as well! If you like Sanderson's style and humor, this series will do well by you.

Even better than the original series.
I prefer this series to the original Mistborn series - or I would if I didn't relate so much to Vin. Wayne is the best comic relief sidekick. He may go a bit far for people. Steris is a wonderful autistic character (though I'd call Vin a more nuanced one). Marasi has an excellent character arc. Wax, the protagonist, is... perhaps the weakest character, but he doesn't grate. He's just a bit... standard. The series is best compared to Legend of Korra in that it's a setting with hard magic, seeing technological development from the original, and this powerful but limited magic interacting with technology in interesting ways (if ways not so well explored as in Legend of Korra, arguably). It also owes a whole ton to Indiana Jones, especially in the third book, and to pulp fiction and penny dreadfuls in general throughout. It draws from different wells than high fantasy, though is arguably more trope-y. But it takes those tropes to more interesting places and subverts them more successfully than the original Mistborn series. It's an excellent series. And I'd love to do an in-depth analysis on Brandon Sanderson's struggles with religion, because dang, he makes gods and religions veeery fallible and dark. Bit odd for a Mormon.

Wish it weren't done...
This series was all I hoped it would be. I read it slow because I knew when it ended it would be hard to find it's equal. Because I have read the rest... John.

Brandon had outdone himself, again!
This is the second time I've read these books and I enjoyed then as much as I did the first time. Now I will read "The Lost Metal" and enjoy it more.

Beautiful Book Series
I'm a simple man, and I never took English class. I couldn't pick this book apart and tell you what I loved about it, but I loved it. A wonderful story all around, and I can't wait to hear more of Wax and Wayne.

Set Two of the Mistborn Series
While this is the second set of the Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson it can be read on its own without reading the first. Sanderson has created a Fantasy world with depth and breadth, a mysterious history and deep characters to rival any in Sci-Fi/Fantasy literature. It's best to read the series' in order to avoid spoilers and the first set is so good, you wouldn't want to do that.Staged 300 - 400 years after Mistborn "1", the world has evolved with a new set of parameters and past heroes are now revered and worshiped. Descendants of "1" characters are now noblemen (in a totally ironic twist) and are managing as badly as the upper class of yore.Series "1" I read picturing a medieval setting with magic and evil and good and gods all woven together with a great story of strife and mayhem. This series shifts the timeline to a period of burgeoning technology and reads like a western, less magic, the evil is more human and the gods are more benign. The story is ripe with the variety of beings carried over from series "1" but they have all evolved and seem less powerful than what they were previously. It's like if Superman's fifth grandson could only fly and Flash's descendant could still go fast but only in 30 second bursts. Rather from detract from the series, it expands the need for deep characters and adds more tension and risk to the battles. This is another great story from Brandon Sanderson and extends and expands the Mistborn world, I couldn't recommend it enough.

Enthralling
Brandon Sanderson is an excellent author. This is an interesting story, much after the original Mistborn trilogy. These 3 books, ending with Bands of Mourning, have a self-contained story. There is at least one more book after.
