Shoots sparks, inconsistent depth, poor manual, dry fires, good price
I'm not a professional, but I've owned several pneumatic nailers as a long-time woodworker. The majority of other reviewers have extolled the virtues of this gun and I bought it to replace my old Bostitch 15-gauge nailer based on their recommendations, and because of its low price. If a rating were based solely on price, this gun would rate 5 stars. If based strictly on performance, perhaps a stretch at 4. If based on expectations after reading the other reviews, then only 3 stars. My quibbles are these: (1) the gun shoots sparks out of the tip on virtually every shot. This is unnerving, something I never saw on my Bostitch or Makita nailers. The owner's manual is very insistent that you use only Hitachi nails. I first used good quality "universal" Senco nails and the gun shot sparks, so I bought Hitachi nails (at Lowes) that are twice as expensive, and the Hitachi nails shoot sparks. The two brands seem indistinguishable. (2) my second gripe is that the owner's manual seems to have been written by lawyers for liability protection, not for the owner. Nearly every page is cluttered with warnings and cautions, in duplication of those found in the Safety section. The manual is in English, French and Spanish and is cluttered with metric conversions in parenthesis, perhaps for use in English-speaking places like Canada that use metric. Whatever the need, the manual is difficult to read, particularly because it is broken up so badly by the duplicitous safety warnings. (3) the countersink depth not consistent on this Hitachi nailer, unlike my Bostitch and Makita guns which were very consistent. Also, I've experienced an uncommon number of inexplicable partially-driven nails, bent over about 1/4"-3/8" out of the wood. This was never an issue on my other guns. On the plus side, I originally thought the air blaster feature on this gun was a gimmick, but I find I actually use it and like it. It's especially useful if you work on a bench in a sawdusty environment. (4) I don't like that this nailer "dry" fires, meaning that the piston fires even after the nails run out, leaving a hole with no nail in it. I prefer a gun that won't fire when you run out of nails, so I have a positive warning that it's empty and not just leaving holes in the wood. Overall, I gave this tool a grudging 4 stars, based mainly on price. The nailer does the job and my gripes did not justify returning it, but if I had it to do again, I'd probably spend a few extra bucks and go for a different brand. By the way, this nailer does not seem louder than any other.

No Longer Disappointed With My Hitachi NT65MA4 15 Gauge Angle Finish Nailer
I received this nail gun in just a few days after I ordered it. It worked perfectly for a few days installing crown molding and trim, but before the job was completed (2 weeks) it stopped working. I thought it might have been a jammed nail but that wasn't it because I checked it several times. Now I am frustrated, I thought I was getting a quality nail gun that would prove to be reliable and dependable job after job. I have a Harbor Freight angle finish nail gun that I had to use to finish the job. I never would have imagined the Hitachi angle finisher would have to be replaced with a Harbor Freight angle finisher! I will contact Hitachi to see how will they make this right for me. Right now, I am reluctant to recommend this product to anyone based on my personal experience. I will write a follow up review concerning the way Hitachi/seller handled my problem. D.T. LouisianaUpdate: 10/03/2014 I feel it is imperative that I follow up the above review with the outcome of the situation. First off, I contacted the seller, Helton Tools, and spoke with Mr. Joesph, who promptly sought to assist me with my problem. He was very courteous and sincere in his efforts to help me resolve my issue with the Hitachi Angle Finisher nail gun that I had purchased through Amazon. He quickly went to work to help me find a local service center that would repair the gun. Once we located one in nearby Shreveport La. I traveled about thirty miles to take the gun to the shop. The owner of the shop was extremely friendly and kind. After closely looking at the gun he concluded that it was only a jammed nail that kept the gun from firing properly. I soon left happy and well pleased how the whole ordeal turned out.I really appreciate Mr. Joesph at Helton Tools, and I look forward to purchasing many more products from that company, and I appreciate the owner and gentleman at Fasting Solutions who so graciously assisted me. It's funny how things can turn out; I look forward to years and years of service from my new Hitachi Angle Finisher and (I own a small painting/drywall company) and I look forward to purchasing more tools/equipment from Helton Tools through Amazon. And lastly, I look forward to a long and lasting relationship with Fasting Solutions in Shreveport La. when our "stuff" needs a little tender loving care. Again, thanks Helton Tools. Thanks Hitachi. Thanks Fasting Solutions, and thanks Amazon. D.T.

Buy this and stop beating your projects to death with hammer and nails.
As a homeowner, I've come to look upon home repairs as a hobby and healthful passtime on a par with tennis or golf. Since I haven't acquired the skill of having a hammer and nails do exactly what I expect, my swinging a hammer on a DIY project often causes as much damage (or more) than benefit. So over the years I've purchased a pancake air compressor, a heavy duty framing gun and a light duty 18 gauge brad nailer. This 15-gauge perfectly places a regular finishing nail with no hammer dings or bruises. Keep in mind that a 15 guage nailer uses a larger nail than does the 18 gauge nailer that dispenses thin wire brads.I use my new Hitachi15-guage nailer for projects that usually call for 3/4 plywood or boards and have been as happy as a kid with a new toy. I chose Amazon because the total price, including shipping, came in at least $20 below any other supplier. Through experience, I've discovered that Amazon's support and return policies make these concerns a non-concern. After more than 5 years of dealing with Amazon, I find their support team does whatever I ask.So far, I've encountered no problems with the nailer. A welcome extra is that it includes a well built carrying case with enough room to include safety glasses and extra nails. I'd recommend carefully reading the operating instructions as the nailer has a dangerous feature permitting semi automatic firing by simple continuous squeezing of the trigger as you bump the nailer against what is hopefully your work piece, but as easily could be your hand, foot or knee. Watch out. There is also a feature that, when called for, will blow debris away from the immediate work area. I didn't think this would be much help, but have come to use it much more often than first expected.

Make sure you find the right nails!
Seems to be fine. When it arrived I saw the brand name Metabo and was disappointed that it was not Hitachi, but I did an internet search discovered that Hitachi has changed to Metabo. So with some test shots it seems to work fine with correct nails. Make sure you find the right nails!

Excellent quality - very reliable - no jams/misfires
Nailer works great for trim work (especially custom) and thick trim needing holding power. No jams...adjustable depth works well.Takes 15g da angle nails - shop around for nails in your community - prices and availability vary.

the product proved very useful straight out of the box
Not only did it arrive incredibly fast, the product proved very useful straight out of the box. I conducted preliminary inspection and adjustments, but they were almost perfect for the work I needed to get done. Great product that has performed very well so far.
