So far so good
I was so excited to get this in the mail. It's nice to have an audio bible that I can listen to offline. Great for any library especially if you are African American. I purchased a used copy (that came in good enough condition) and so I haven't listened to all of the CD's to see if they are okay but to be honest you could buy this album new and not be sure if all the CD's are okay.I saw some reviews that said it was not the complete bible but it is complete and the dramatization is just exceptional to me. The acting is superb to me. Now again I have not listened to all of it but so far so good. Consider praying to see if this is the right purchase for you.

Audio CD vs. MP3 Formats
The excellent content is well-documented in other reviews; I just wanted to comment on the format so that others can make a decision of which version to order. This set comes on 79 audio disks (in a nice zipper case); 60 CDs for the Old Testament and 19 CDs for the New Testament recorded from the Today's New International Version (TNIV) of the Bible. Each CD "song" is one chapter in the Bible, labeled by book and chapter, making it fairly easy to find specific passages on an MP3 player or digital CD player. Each entry is about 2-8 minutes long so each disk holds about 10-15 chapters. Only the beginning of each Book is announced on the CD, not chapter or verse, and no subject headings are given (since headings were added to the biblical text by publishers, this is a good thing.) It does mean that it is difficult to know where you are at in the Bible by just listening unless you know the text well. The exception is the book of Psalms, where each Psalm is announced. The book names are given as the simple titles as they are written in the TNIV, without the literary descriptions given in the Greek and most other English translations (Matthew, not the Gospel of Matthew; 1st Corinthians, not the First Epistle/Letter to the Corinthians). The readers did a great job with all the tough Old Testament names but then mispronounce the book of The Revelation as "revelations" - a common mistake but one that propogates the theological misunderstanding that the book records many oracles or visions instead of the one revelation of Jesus Christ given to John. Each CD begins and ends with the same "Bible Experience Theme" which is quite annoying to have 150+ times on my iPod. It also breaks into the middle of the narrative in a book since not every book begins on a new CD. Simple enough to uncheck the theme when loading each CD. There are also worship songs that split chapters in the Epistles of Paul - nice to have the music, but not the best locations for it. Although it took a while to load 79 disks onto my computer and download to an iPod, this still seems to be a much better format than the MP3 version which I understand is segmented into big chunks of the Bible that all come with the same label.I will say that the canticles (songs in the narrative) and psalms came to life when the speaker's poetic rhythm suddenly breaks into song. It really brings the text alive in new ways. Very, very nice to have such a great audio version of the Bible from which to listen to God's Word.

An amazing biblical dramatization
It’s so enjoyable, almost like listening to a movie. Great for knowing more biblically when you are too busy to read or more of an auditory learner. Great addition to my biblical library.

The Bible brought to life!
LOVE this audio version of the Bible. It's better than I hoped - I thought it would just be famous folks reading the Bible, but it's soooooo much more. Background sounds and sound effects let you imagine what it was like to be present in the moment when all the stories of the Bible were happening. Some of the Old Testament can be very graphic in nature - so be careful if you have little one's listening with you. My eye sight is going and I can't read my Bible like I used to - this is a FANTASTIC alternative to reading though. Wish I had come across it years ago. I don't know why more churches don't buy it and play it in small group settings - or at least have it available for folks to borrow and listen to. Well worth the price! Thank you to the actors and actresses that participated in this undertaking. Long live your voices.

Beautiful and powerful! Do not hesitate to buy, but read the complete product description first.
I love this version of the Bible. And the audio is amazing. I read a lot of reviews today although I have had this for many many years. I do not understand the poor reviews. I have this on an old-fashioned CD package so I can't address the MP3 issues that people are having but I certainly can address the content. While I agree that the theme song gets tiring I just skip that, it is an introduction at the beginning of every CD or the beginning of every book. I feel the passion that the readers have and it inspires me to passion and often brings me to tears! One review stated that the person could not understand the words being read because of dialect, that's difficult for me to accept. Every word is clearly spoken.I believe if people would read the Complete product description there would be no misconceptions about what they are buying. It tells you what version of scripture you are getting, and at least on my package it tells me who all the actors are who are portraying the biblical characters. Admittedly I looked at this in a brick-and-mortar store first.THEN BUY THIS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - LISTEN TO IT... ALL!

The Children of Israel
I just receive this item today and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Just one thing... it needs a program showing who narrated each book! Please make this :) I'm sooooo delighted to hear the Children of Israel (Israelites) read the Word of YAHAWAH. Yep... what I'm saying is true... biblical prophecy, archaeological findings, and many books show evidence the American negroes are descendants of the Israelites of the bible. Isaiah 11:10-12. May the Most High God bless ALL people all over the world who believes in Christ :)Isaiah 11:10-12 10In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious. 11In that day the LORD will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean. 12He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.
