Best thermal camera I’ve used for PCB
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been self employed in PC repairs for the last 10 years, but until recently I hadn’t used a thermal imaging camera. Previously I used various methods for identifying shorts on boards, but it was something I struggled with and after watching others using thermal cameras, I decided to stump up for one to see if it could help me. After trying several products I found that they were all very disappointing, but despite having seen videos about the ETS320, I couldn’t get one as it was beyond my price range. A couple of weeks ago I noticed it on offer at an incredible discount and it said it was the last one so I jumped at the opportunity. It honestly blew away all the others I had tried; not least as this was the only one that allowed me to identify a blown capacitor in seconds. I have attached a video to show just how quickly and easy it was after injecting a low voltage into the board.I really like this camera, but unfortunately I am returning mine to Amazon as it came with a charger that wasn’t working and the box had clearly been opened with some tatty packaging on the inside and a few marks on the product as well.I did get it on offer, but the advert clearly stated it was brand new and so I am incredibly disappointed because I only have about 10 days to return it and they’re currently out of stock. The reason I’m gutted about this is because I got it at such a good price, I doubt that it will be the same price when they are back in stock as they have already gone back up to over a grand more than I paid.I think it’s terrible that it was sold as new when clearly it had been used and somebody would have known the charger doesn’t work. Still that’s not Flirs fault and as for the camera I can’t fault it really, although the stand could be a better quality and the area you can view is a little small when it’s zoomed in, but the other reviewers have done a much better job at explaining this than I could.I love the camera and you can see from the video how quickly I found the short, but I’m disappointed with the service from Amazon and I’m really hoping it’s back in stock before my return window closes otherwise I doubt I’ll be able to buy another unless there’s a massive discount on it. Amazon did offer me 10% to keep it, but if the charger doesn’t work and it’s been used previously I don’t know the history so I’m not taking any chances. Shame really.
