Good book, excellent condition.
A good book that I first got forty years ago. This copy looks like the one I bought then. It's in excellent condition and it's forty years new.

Supporting Document for 'Inside the Third Reich'
As indicated by the title, this book is narrowly focused on the attempts by the SS to build an economic empire that was to be separate from that of Germany or the Nazi Party. This was to ensure their continued survival after the war, when presumably their services would be hard to justify. Consequently, the book represents a compendium of supporting evidence for Herr Speer's much more important work, 'Inside the Third Reich', in which the SS attempts at economic independence were previously exposed. Unlike 'Inside', this book is disorganized, anecdotal and much more appropriate for a researcher looking for evidence on this subject than for the general public.

Unusual publication
I bought this book out of curiosity because I could not understand why Speer considered the subject matter worth writing about. However, the opening chapter provided some important clues which led me to the conclusion that in all probability, Speer was psychologically, if not physically, in love with his Fuhrer ( which is why he decommissioned sound reasoning ) who in return, provided Speer with the means for his pursuit of eternal fame through his architectural and organisational skills.

A great work of historical value
Rumors had it among the accused at the Nuremberg trial that Himmler was the real bad guy in Nazi Germany, even more so than Hitler in Speer's view. The book is very technical but will surprise you as to why the war was lost.

Read at night
A cure for insomnia, Infiltration is a very slow read, heavy on economics but dull to a layman/history buff. The parts that aren't concerned with quoting numbers endlessly become soap operas about power plays, showing that Speer obviously still held grudges 4 decades after the war.

A must for anyone interested in the Third Reich
Of course you must always be aware that Speer will always put himself in a good light and blame everyone else for the crimes of the Third Reich but with that said it is an interesting book.

Tough going
Very good book but tough going as it can be very factural. Gives a newinsight into the internal politics of the Nazi party.
