I first learned about this wonderful French product more than 20 years ago. At the time I was making salted caramels. Then I started using it as a finishing salt, sparingly, on special occasion dishes because it was so 'pricey'.For years I have been buying Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel Sea Salt in small containers....and paying an exorbitant $15.00 +/- for 4.409 oz.= $3.40 per oz.I paid less than $30 for the same product (1 kg. = 35.2 + oz.) for $29.32...or .83 cents per oz. At this price I can afford to use it daily, and not just limit it for special occasion dishes.One last comment: This salt is not iodized, so do not use this product exclusively. You still need to use iodized table salt for good health.

Some Swiss-French friends introduced us to this salt several years ago. It is a perfect finishing salt for the table. I saw the larger container here on Amazon and purchased it. Of course, the salt is the same high quality; but the package arrived with the base broken in on the salt container itself. Luckily, it had been well wrapped in plastic, so the salt itself was not lost. Since we had a couple of the smaller containers around, we transferred some to those; and now we have the larger container sitting upside down in the pantry and refill from it as needed.

I've been buying this product in small containers for decades, for the crystalline structure that improves the flavor of foods onto which it is sprinkled: Typically steaks and salad.Because of cost, I used it sparingly. Of course there is no reason to use it for general cooking because the mouth feel is lost. It needs to be put on top of an item, so the "structure" can be tasted. Once in a sauce, salt is salt.Then, I found this size package and the price per ounce suddenly plummeted. I've now bought my second box, and couldn't be happier.

First I want to say that I love this salt. I’ve been using it for about a year now and it makes dishes very yummy! The salt containers I ordered previously came in great shape. This one the shipping box was completely fine but the bottom of the salt container was coming apart. I attached some pictures for reference. I have it 4 stars because of this. Other wise I would have given it 5! It’s my favorite salt. Just bummed about the product packaging.

I already knew about this salt and had been using it. It's a great "finishing" salt. Sprinkle it on certain dishes just before serving. It lends a little bit of "bite of salt" If you like the Godiva chocolate bar with sea salt, you'll understand what I mean. Great on tomatoes caprese, vegetables, crudites, salads - anything you want a little taste (bite) of salt. It's flakey (kind of like Maldon) so doesn't dissolve as quickly, thus, the little "bite" Expensive enough that you reserve it strictly for finishing. I eat raw radishes sprinkled with it while I'm preparing dinner. This large size is very definitely the best buy. The small 4 oz size sells for around $9 or $10 locally. If you love to cook, this is a wonderful salt.

Arrived with container broken and salt spilled everywhere!!! ;(It says there is a no return policy on this item, but since it arrived broken and useless, I absolutely should be entitled to a refund or re-signed new replacement!

I was originally ordering this salt in the smaller size, but we are baking lots of sourdough and other types of bread now for family use and I opted for this larger size. It's lovely salt! It's become a staple of the pantry!

Love that I won’t have to buy any new fleur de sel for a long time. This was an excellent deal so went with it. The container could stand to be a little more durable but perhaps I’ll just get a new container. Everything arrived intact, I just worry about the bottom of this container as it’s kind of flimsy.

I visited Camargue last year and bought some salt there. I purchased this one as I have finally run out . It tastes exactly how I remember and the box looks great too.

Fantastic value for this product. I love this salt. Used to buy it in France and bring enough home for a year. Very tasty on salads. Price for this was excellent.

I discovered this Salt 20 years ago in Provence. .and I have use it ever sinceIf one seriously love cooking and good food. .will not use anything else

Dieses Salz ist zum Verfeinern und nicht zum Kochen gedacht.An Fleisch, Fisch, sautiertem Gemüse ohne Fleur de Sel ist kaum denkbar. Jedenfalls nicht wenn man zuhause kocht.Die flockige Struktur trägt beim Geschmackserlebnis einen großen Teil bei.Es ist einfach etwas was man probieren muss um es zu verstehen.Da ich kein großer Fan von Saucen bin, ist die richtige würze am Ende des Kochvorgangs wichtig.Pfeffer, getrocknete Minze, Oregano usw. usw. und natürlich Salz.Wüstensalz, Meeressalz, Bergsalz, alles schön und gut.Fleur de Sel, ist besser.Jedoch würde ich eher die 125 Gramm Packung empfehlen, da 1 Kilo schon ziemlich viel ist.Ich habe es genommen, weil es für Weihnachten ein tolles Geschenk für Freunde und Familie war.Ich besorgte mir unterschiedliche Behälter und Glasfläschchen mit Korken, befüllte sie und schenkte sie weiter.Es sind noch locker 300 Gramm übrig.

ich bin eine bekennende Salzliebhaberin, anders kann man das nicht ausdrücken. Ich habe mir das Kilo gekauft, da bei mir Salz eh schneller aufgebraucht wird als in normalen Haushalten, auch wenn das nicht wirklich gesund ist, ich kann es nicht lassen. Das Salz schmeckt gut, ist nicht so "nass" wie ich es eigentlich gewohnt bin, also der Feuchtigkeitsanteil ist glaub ich hier etwas geringer, aber es ist trotzdem toll.Ich habe nun auch schon eine kleine Menge abgefüllt und mit in die Büro-Küche gestellt, meine Kolleg(inn)en sind begeistert :)
