I came across this book, Chicken Soup for the Dental Soul", and thought WOW this is a book I want to read. I used to be a Dental Assistant/Receptionist. I thought the stories were so touching. One story that was very outstanding was "Rainbow Child". It was about a mother having her teeth cleaned by the hygienist while her 4 year old child waited for her in the same room. During the mother's appointment, the hygienist had to take an emergency telephone call from a best friend whose mother was near death. The hygienst quickly returned to her patient and young daughter. The mother had sensed that something was wrong and the hygienst told her quickly about her friend's mother. The little girl was busy coloring. After the visit, the little 4 year old gave the hygienst a picture of a rainbow that she had colored. The hygienst told the young girl that she would place it on the wall for all the patients to see. The 4 year stated that the rainbow was not for the office but was to be given to the hygienst's friend's mother. I thought that this was soooo touching. She was an innocent young girl, who could feel someone's pain and wanted to help. There are a number of stories in this book that are touching as well. I wish another issue of Chicken Soup for the Dental field would be pulished as this has a date of 1999 (copywrite). A Great Book!!!

I bought this book for my sister who is going to be a dentist soon. She loves the stories in here and they have definitely encouraged her to continue in her practice.I first found this book in the waiting room while I was waiting for my wisdom tooth surgery. I read one of the stories, and it was just incredible and emotional, even though i myself am not a dentist.I recommend it for every oral practitioner

Love this book. I give it every year to my dental assisting graduates as a gift. If you are in the dental profession the stories will make you laugh and cry. They touch your heart. Each story quickly told in just a few pages. Should be in every dental office to remind us why we picked dentistry as a career.

Great book. Actually third copy I have purchased. I am a dental practice manager and got this one for my boss......he needs new material for stories to tell patients (LOL).
