DEFTDefthane Interior Exterior Clear Polyurethane Gloss, Quart

I have used this stuff in this form and in the spray for five years for my candlesticks from my wood shop. I have been pleased with the way the exterior finish with its UV blockers retards the natural darkening of rosewoods and other hardwoods. It is not the fastest drying finish in the world, but it is hard and lustrous and waterproof and sands easily for another coat and you can buff out any bits of dirt or other imperfections.

PPG only offers superior finishing products, having just used up a qt. of Minwax polyurethane and then using the Defthane in IMO this is a better product. As always you have to use the product properly to get good results.My only complaint is that the lid on the Defthane can is a cheap piece of POS !

The finish is not quite as sharp and clean as the Minwax, but my real complaint is the drying time. Minwax takes 3 hours first coat, 2+ hours second coat. This stuff 4.5 hours first coat, 3+ second coat. But the price is better on this one, so to each their own, I guess.

I like this product it sprays on clear with no yellowing. I applied two coats using the critter sprayer and my wood signs had a very nice gloss I really like this product.

For years I've been buying another name brand(Helmsmans by Minwax). Check my reviews and you will see why I changed brands. As for Deft, it has less pigment, good clarity, goes on smoother, and dries faster. Less chance of runs, covers in less coats, and the results are beautiful. Deft is now my finish of choice.

beautiful, hard, glossy I sanded in between each coat and put about 3 coats on my kitchen table and it is beautiful and I have tried to really use it like normal and so far not even a scratch

Excellent smooth finish when sanded with 320 sand paper. Also it does not dry out when all of the can is not used within a short time. Usually I apply three coats.

I use Defthane on all my projects. It is easy to put on and drys quickly. Ready for another coat. When rubbed down it leaves a beautiful finish.
