Schumacher SE-1010-2 10/2 Amp Manual Battery Charger

Well built solid battery charger. Will not fail like other digital more expensive chargers do after years of use. One reliable piece of equipment.

I purchased this primarily for rust removal purposes. It worked perfectly. I had to tinker with how long I needed to leave it running, but that wasn't the machine's fault.

As others have said, a simple, old fashioned battery charger that should last a long time. And I mean old fashioned as a compliment - very sturdy. Unfortunately, mine also had the wires on the amp meter reversed (mentioned in other reviews), so when you plugged it in the needle went below zero. The fix was pretty easy - undo 4 screws, swap the two wires (both were the same color!) on the amp meter (which have spade terminals so no soldering required) and put the cover back on. However, you probably void the warranty if you do open the cover. I did it myself because I presumed if I sent it back, they might just send me another that had the also wires reversed.Gave it 4 stars because you should not need to rewire a new product. However, if yours comes properly assembled or after you swap the wires you have a pretty solid battery charger.

Bolts holding it together were loose. Wasn’t working.

I bought this charger online to replace my 40 year old charger that finally quit working. I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered a manual charger with minimal electronics -like my last one- so perhaps it too would also last 40 years.The charger puts out the right voltage and the 12 volt leads are color coded correctly (as per my muli-meter), but the built in ammeter is either defective or wired in wrong. The bigger the load the more the needle pulls off to the left of "0" amps. This makes the charger totally useless for battery diagnoses. I am disappointed.I took it upon myself (a day later) to take the charger apart and reverse the leads going to the ammeter. And now the ammeter works. I now give the charger a rating of 4 stars.

Quality control seems to be an issue with this product. This thing is pretty good at what it does but it did not work out of the box. I plugged it in and there was no voltage going through the wires. I cracked it open and right away I spotted a cable that was not connected to the transformer. Once the wires are connected correctly it works very well.

I got a truck that sits most of the year and this battery saved me so much time. I used to start my truck and go on 40-1hr drives to recharge the battery. This makes my life easier

Received the charger in good condition and tested. Ammeter/charge level meter works fine, not like some reviews written which said it was wired backwards. My old manual charger was only a 2 amp, which was OK, but I usually had to let it charge for several hours. I like the option of a faster 10 amp charge but think a smaller charge rate will charge deeper.
