The software associated with this product is not fit for purpose, and the plug is now in the bin.There are a number of steps you have to perform to get this working:1. Download the V-TAC Smart Home App - the review comments are scathing,2. Via the App you have to register your email address - this does not work from a Samsung Galaxy S9. I contacted V-TAC (no response), then the seller - the seller indicated that V-TAC were addressing and a new version of the App was available - I'm still waiting I borrowed a friends iPhone 6 to complete this part of the process3. Via the App you configure the plug (connect to wi-fi etc) This went ok However, thereafter you get one use of the App before you need to uninstall and reinstall it - it will simply not launch a second time4. I tried to configure the plug to 'talk' to Alexa - you do this through an Alexa Skill, Plug and Play - Plug and Play fails miserably - this is nothing to do with Alexa, it's an external capabilityThe product is now in the bin.I have an honours degree in Computing Science, and have developed more software than you can imagine - THE SOFTWARE ASSCIATED WITH THIS PRODUCT IS APPAULING.

2 smart plugs arrived today - box for one was open and instructions missing, but so far works, so am not sending it back. As others have said, setup was not easy. Although I'm fairly new to setting up smart devices, this isn't my first experience, and I am aware set-up sometimes has its problems.There's a choice of three apps in Google store for V-TAC smart (not to be confused with the VTac university app) . This smart technology company has 3 x apps to choose from (the 3rd is for their lights). I downloaded the one without ads, but couldn't create an account with that, so deleted the app and installed the one with ads (so far I've not received any). After a couple of attempts I connected the first plug, and the second was a breeze. Both plugs are now connected to the internet, one in the hallway, with timer for a small lamp - tested it and it turned off at the time I'd set. I'm giving it a 4 star rating because of the difficulty I had in creating an account before getting started with set-up.

It took me 24 hours to successfully register the product. First the system would not recognise the UK as a country - it kept on defaulting to Guernsey. Having got the country right, it then failed to recognise the email address and repeatedly gave the message "Failed to send the email. Please check network settings". There was nothing wrong with my network. Finally it after much difficulty it managed to make the connection and register. After that connecting to Alexa was easy. I noted other users had similar problems .

Unusable,would not pair or connect with network.Returned for refund. No helpful hints from seller after asking for help.

Although this has an internal relay to switch the current, it does not work with any load under 50 watts. Making it useless for LED table lamps or other lower powered transformer driven electrical items. Time function does not work on the app.

It took a couple of goes to get the first timer set up, but once I did it was pretty easy to sort out. I used my I-phone & even managed to share quite easily with my husband so we both have control. Only tiny thing is the light from the plug is a bit bright, so it does shine out rather brightly in my bedroom.

Quite straight forward to connect to my Wi-Fi once I figured out my galaxy s8 phone wouldn't allow me to connect for some reason. I then tried using my wife's I-phone and it connected straight away. It was then straightforward to connect to my Amazon Echo. Seems to be working fine with Alexa switching the light off and on

We have this connected to our Amazon Echo and use it outside to power our Xmas lights - what a fabulous product that was simple to install and control.
