Works well, easily accessed whilst away from home
KAMTRON Security Camera 1080PFirst impressions of this when it arrived was that it looks a bit like a laser pod which you would find in a sci-fi movie, the camera does indeed look a little space-age in design. That aside, the camera does seem to be quite sturdy and well built, it is made from plastic, but what isn't these days? The black plastic construction does have a quality feel about it.The camera has a wide base so it will sit well on a cupboard or shelf without falling over. Ideally this would be best secured using the provided wall/shelf mount, the mount is secured via two screws as a permenant fixture, this has an adjustable arm so you can place the camera in the optimum position. This camera does have a standard brass threaded hole in the base so any other camera tripod or mount should be compatible with this too.On the base of the camera is a reset button along with inputs for a micro-SD card (up to 128gb), power chord and Wi-Fi cable. (All cables are supplied in the box). This will also operate via wi-fi so all you need to worry about is the power cable which is two metres long so you will need a power socket nearby.First thing you need to do is download and install the app for your phone type, this you can find in your app-store. You need to locate and install the MIPC app. Once installed you can register an account then it will guide you through installing your camera and connecting to your household Wi-Fi. Don't make the mistake that I did by trying to connect to the Wi-Fi using the wps button, this does not work as the camera doesn't have a pairing button or a device ID (probably due to security reasons) you need to follow the steps closely using the app from your phone.Once the camera is installed correctly you can control it via the app software on your phone. I do have a fairly ancient mobile phone which really is getting past it's retirement date, even so the app works fine on it. The downside was that the response time between me entering the commands into the app took a few seconds to reach the phone. I'm sure with a good Wi-Fi connection and more up to date phone this should perform seamlessly. All the phone controls are carried out from within the mipc app - scroll, zoom, up/down, record, brightness, contrast etc along with various other settings. There is also an app for the PC which is my preferred method of controlling the camera whilst at home. The picture quality within the PC version of the mipc app seems to be pretty good. I get a slight momentary blur whilst panning the camera but it may well be my internet speed as we don't have fibre broadband here? once the camera is static the picture is good. The camera does operate at 30 frames per second so scrolling is never going to be entirely smooth, after all, once set the camera will rarely be moved as it does have a fairly wide field of viewYou can insert a micro-SD card into the base of the camera where you can store your recordings but that is not compulsory as the camera works perfectly well with no SD card. This is a very handy device, it will give me peace of mind whenever I have to be away from home for any period of time. It's comforting to know that I can look inside my home via the camera to ensure everything is safe and secure. The camera has a built in motion detector so any movement should be recorded - so no more food missing from the fridge at night in our house. I also have an elderly parent who often leaves her phone off the hook by mistake, one of these cameras will be ideal to ensure that she is safe and well - Highly recommended!Contents -1 x Security Camera1 x Adjustable mounting1 x Network cable1 x Power cable (USB end)1 x Wall USB transformer plug1 x Pack of wall plugs & screws1 x User manualIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

Simple setup and easy to use
I wanted an IP camera to monitor the house and keep an eye on our cat, who as I am now aware, doesn’t actually have parties or do acrobatic tricks while I’m out as I originally suspected. The camera itself was a lot smaller than I expected, which means it takes up very little space and is extremely unobtrusive, save for the activity lights which can be disabled.Setup was extremely easy and simply involved downloading the app and following the instructions to connect the IP camera to the router with only a couple of firmware updates required once setup. An account is required to log in and monitor the device, but no other manual router configuration or port forwarding is required to access the camera outside your home network.Connection via Ethernet is also possible and is even simpler and arguably faster and more secure than wifi and requires less configuration if you opt to use it.Images are sharp out of the box, but can also be customised through saturation, exposure and other settings and image resolution can also be controlled if you want to reduce bandwidth. The night vision kicks in automatically with a click when low light is detected and this too gives very good quality images using the inbuilt IR light.Control of the camera is operated by swipes of the touch screen and is extremely intuitive, though zoom is only optical and activated with a double-tap.There are a number of options for recording including the use of a micro SD card, connecting to a networked storage device or to a cloud service. Currently I use a 64GB SD card that records when motion is detected, but this can also be set on continuous loops depending on the size of your card.If you’d prefer not to use the app, supposedly the camera can also be configured to run with iSpy software, though I haven’t tested this myself. In all, this is a solid camera with some great features and customisability for the price.

Excellent definition
This was the easiest camera to set up I've ever seen. Plug it in, download the app and I'm away. I plugged it into the router but the wifi works just as well, meaning I can move it around the house when I need to, for example if I have the grandson staying. I can see my dogs are okay when I'm outside the house and I can set it up to watch the wildlife outside.I've shared the password with my partner so we can speak when one of us is away. I love this camera.

Good camera for starters
Main features:Good quality recordingMotion detection (but I have not used it for such purposes yet)Does not support 5G. It’s 2.5 or Ethernet supportedExpandable memorySetup is fairly easy and I use it on a table standGood swirl and 180 degrees coverageThis is fantastic for the two things I use it for- monitoring the front door and as a baby monitor.I decided to get this after seeing a colleague check in on her pet from work. The camera works on a 2.4G WiFi or an Ethernet connection. It does not support 5G. I am glad that it has the option to upgrade the firm ware. (See images attached)From unboxing to setup, it took me about 15 minutes. I did not mount it on the wall but rather placed it on a table. During night it acts as a baby monitor and during the day I monitor my outdoors where I have a basket for courier delivery and have had instances of it being messed around with when I am not home. This brilliantly does both jobs to perfection. The camera can swivel 180 degrees. If you want to mount it on a wall, it comes with the screws. Done I’m in a rented place I don’t have permission to do this. The images are of a very high quality,?which I guess is a bonus. I would have been fine with basic images as I’m not going to be watching this like a TV (see attached images )Lastly, it has good instructions on matte paper and uses very little plastic in its packaging, which is an important factor for me. I hope you find this useful.
