Thermo Scientific HP194515 Cimarec Analog Basic Hot Plate with 4.25" x 4.25" Ceramic Heating Plate and Integral Ring-Stand Holder, 7.9" Length x 5.7" Width x 5" Height, 150 to 538 Degree C, 120V/60Hz

We purchased this as one part of a distillation apparatus to extract essential oils from, for example, lavender. The hotplate worked fine for about 3 weeks (i.e., about 10-15 hours of actual use). It then stopped heating (but the "heat" light was still illuminated). We returned it to Amazon for a replacement, and exactly the same happened with that. We assume that there must be some relatively common defect in these Thermo Scientific hotplates (or we were just very unlucky). We have since purchased a more expensive digital hotplate from another manufacturer, but too soon to rate it.

They put out a great amount of heat. They do use a lot of watts, so when I have multiple hot plates running, I make sure they are on separate circuits.

Looks better on the website picture looks bigger in person very small draws a lot of power chair did my homework probably could've found it somewhere a little cheaper
