Stainless Steel Sauerkraut/Kimchee Pounder Tamper, 10"

I use this to crush up freeze dried veggies in my dog's food. The food works great, but her system can't handle the chunks. With this, I can easily grind up the veggie pieces before adding warm water. Very sturdy, handles well, and washes easily. Since it is used daily, I leave it standing on the counter. It doesn't take much space and looks sleek. I was hesitant to buy because it wasn't cheap, but very glad I bought it.

I wanted a cabbage tamper that I could clean, and this is the one. I used it to abuse my cabbage for sauerkraut, and it made short work of getting the juice to flow. Then it was simple to wash, and I know it's clean! I was worried that wood might retain some bacteria, and I didn't want to introduce the wrong kind of bacteria to my sauerkraut. This is just what I needed!

I use this for making sauerkraut and am very pleased with how easy it is to clean and maintain. I cannot see any reason for needing one of these made of wood (other than for an old-timey esthetic). With this one I do not have to worry about the wood absorbing anything and then harboring unwanted organisms. The larger end lets me compress things into quart jars and the smaller end fits in the smaller jars. I also like how lightweight it is.

This is an amazing addition to my canning cabinet. I use it to squish down cabbage when making curtido (El Salvadoran sauerkraut). When I'm done, I can just rinse it and dry it off. It doesn't hold liquid or odor or anything, so it takes very, very little to clean it.It also fits in my dishwasher's utensil rack, and came out beautifully when I washed it there before its first use.Also, I took it to a friend's house and she remarked that "it's like a work of art - you could just leave it out on the counter and call it decoration."

Light enough to be comfortable, easy to wash and use and yet sturdy enough and easy enough to get to the sides of the bottle to make it perfect for me.. I will be using this for a long time

I like this Stainless Steel Tamper so much better than any wood one. It is much more sanitary than wood and easier to keep clean. When you get it you will know that it was made in china but they still did a good job. I only wish it was an inch or two bigger. This tamper looks like it will last forever.

I got this for crushing tortilla chips with refried beans, to make a mash, on which I add canned corn, salsa, etc. I know this dish is usually made in layers, with uncrushed tortilla chips, and as finger food, but, I like it better with crushed tortilla chips, because it's easier and less messy to combine all of the ingredients. You can get a bite of everything with each and every spoonful when the tortilla chips are crushed in with the refried beans, and I jut eat it in a big bowl.Anyhoo, my wood kraut tamper immediately got scratches from the tortilla chips, so I got this stainless steel tamper instead, and it could not be more perfect!!! I love this thing, it's the answer to my prayers!!! It looks really cool in the utensil crock, too, lol!!! It's a super great tool, and I highly recommend it to anyone!!!

This stainless steel sauerkraut pounder is excellent. It is better than the previous wooden one that I had purchased. It washes easily and seems easier to sanitize. It is also of a good weights and makes the task of pounding cabbage much easier.

Being light weight has been perfect as it makes it easy to use.

Stainless steel, sturdy and will probably last forever. Easy to clean and use.

I've been doing a bit of pickling/fermenting of late and often came across the situation where veggies aren't totally submerged in the brine. I could have used existing rolling pins but thought stainless steel was more sanitisable material than wood and I'm glad I made the choice.
