The Allman Brothers Band: The Definitive Collection for Guitar, Vol. 3

Accurate Notation
The is the 3rd volume of the Allman Brothers trilogy books, and the guitar notation is well done. Very close to the actual music, much more so than most other music books. Even the live versions in the book are well written and surprisingly accurate.

Long live the Allman Bros Band....great books!!!
I got all three volumes and this is the ultimate for any Allman Bros fan wanting to learn note for note parts to all their great tunes! You really take for granted all the notes your ear hears but when its in front of your face as you listen, you get a whole new respect for the music thats unfolding...its really pretty incredible! I have struggled trying to learn slide for 20 years and in the week I have had these I have picked up more licks and slide techniques from the late great Duane and also awesome stuff from Warren! Dickeys parts are some of the coolest to learn an improvise with in other songs as well!Highly recommend any if not all of these together!!!

Fabulous!
I have Vol 1 and 2... I doubt I get through all this in the years I have left. Incredibly detailed and accurate.

Volumes 1,2 & 3 are a must for any blues guitarist.
This review goes for all three volumes. If you are a guitarist whose is also a) an ABB fan or b) a blues guitarist, then these volumes have a wealth of guitar pieces just waiting for you to get your teeth into. The volumes are usually kind enough to tell you which guitar pieces belongs to which guitarist. It tells the tunings and, sometimes will give you a guitar pieces to assimilate a keyboard piece.Glad I purchased all three.

Essential Blues Country Rock
These 3 tab books really do make it clear that Duane Allman was not superior to Dicky Betts. At their peak this band had 2 guitarist who could match each other and sometimes Dicky would far exceed Duane. Duane was generous enough to admit this saying that while he lead the band as guitarist, Dicky was the musician. Any online list that contains Duane near the top but not Dicky has not researched enough, nor listened enough. These tab books tell us who is soloing where and its clear that Dicky Betts played some of the most incredible solos in the Allman Brothers catalogue, including live and for me Is the most underrated guitarist in Blues Rock. I love these books!

Amazing songs on here but maybe just me
Amazing songs on here but maybe just me, the post Duane Allman stuff just doesn't have the same draw to go back and play. Some of the slide is easy enough for novices like me but some of it is just out of reach and I had to just stick to the Dicky Betts lines which are in themselves challenging enough. Something for all guitarists, Novices will struggle with most of the tracks' lead lines but your intermediate and advanced(plus slideys) will get more from. Spread well over back catalogue and thankfully for me at least, most of the Duane Allman era is covered here.

Great song book
Easy to use guitar book, in musical notation and tab form. Great songs by a great band. I’m using it everyday, and it’s helping my guitar playing.

Ray.
