Good for art, not for identification
Mushroom Magick has lots of gorgeous mushrooms paintings that will just blow you away. The author has definitely captured the spirit and beauty of the mushroom with this book. However, it is not a good field guide for identification so when on the title it says "Mushroom Magick: A Visionary Field Guide" the key word is visionary. Gives very little information that is practical for a true field guide. Mentions habitats and spore prints (but not even for all of them) and also has some incorrect information about some of the families. But overall a beautiful book to look at and a nice leisurely, easy read.

Book Mushroom Magick
This book is very beautiful, the art is absolutely amazing. I would not recommend this book be used while foraging wild mushrooms, as some mushrooms depicted in the art do not appear the same in life. A very good book for mushroom lovers.

cool
arrived quickly, in good condition. excellent artwork, informative text on psychoactive mycology, but it reads more like something by thom wolfe than some musty professor in a laboratory.

nice pictures, if you have already eaten the shrooms...
These are well drawn portraits, but honestly, when it comes to using this to identify mushrooms, this book is about as useful as a teenage sex-ed instructor. Most mushrooms can barely be discerned from each other even with a detailed written description and photos, so using somebody's paintings to identify poison versus psychadelic mushrooms will get you a painful death in short order! Buy a book with PHOTOGRAPHS, written for your part of the world.

Great pictures
If you are a mushroom enthusiast and need some attractive artwork to look at, then this book may be a good buy. Inside there are many paintings of mushrooms done in a representational and slightly glowing style similar to 'Yes' album artwork. The accuracy, or lack of it, may disappoint those looking for botanical illustration quality renditions, but that's not the purpose of this work. It's more of a slight flight of fancy, into the moist, green world beneath the pine trees, amongst the moss and ferns, where humans rarely linger.Beautiful and lush with dreamy mushroom-inhabited scenes.

Nice water color pictures
This book contains mostly nice water color pictures of mushrooms. I will not criticize the quality of the pictures. But there is only few written informations about the mushrooms. My expectation was to get detailed informations like- where and how to find the mushrooms- history and social background of the people that use magic mushrooms- psicoactive effects, differences between types of mushrooms- may be some interesting storiesIn summary this book is not very helpful for me. I was too late to return it.
