The Doctrine of God (Contours of Christian Theology)

Necessary Resource
A little dense on the front end but outstanding book. He traces the history of the doctrine through platonism, scholasticism, modernism, and many other philosophies that have influenced the doctrine. Many times our description of God says as much about us as it does about Him. Reading this will help you vet and refine your understanding of theology and God Himself. Can't say enough about this book.

Thorough analysis. Makes going 'deep' look shallow.
Not for the casual Christian or non-believer. This book digs deep into scripture and theology. Best read with periods of prayer and contemplation. That being said it is excellent and through in the understanding of the Triune God as He relates to humanity.

Theology with a Slightly Reformed Bent
This text is well written and informative, but the author could have written some chapters with less ostentatious language, so that everyone could read and understand it, rather than just seminary leaders who might think they should hire him for a more advanced level due to his eloquence.

Disappointing
Put it down after only a short time. Title doesn’t fit the book. Definitely disappointed.

Great read
This book is a great look at the development of the Trinity throughout church history. One of the better books in the series if not the best. I enjoyed it cover to cover.
