Our patented ProQ Cold Smoke Generator is a great little gadget that makes cold smoking easy to do and affordable. Released in 2009 it is now used by top chefs, fishermen, hunters and "foodies" around the world to add a wonderful smoky flavour to foods such as fish (Salmon, Haddock, Kippers, etc), bacon, hams, eggs, cheeses, beef, venison, salami, butter, salt and nuts. The ProQ Cold Smoke Generator is designed to produce smoke for up to 10 hours, using ProQ smoking wood dust which is of a high quality and sourced from sustainable forests (other brands of dust may not produce the same results). Our original CSG is most effective in containers that have a capacity of between 30 Litres - 150 Litres - The ProQ Eco Smoker (33 Litres) and ProQ Frontier (105 Litres with 2 stackers) are ideal. If you have a larger container, consider the ProQ Artisan CSG instead.

Does the job very well
I have always wanted to try smoking my own food and I brought one of these several years ago and it is very good, I have some stuff going now for Christmas in fact!There are a couple of things I found helpful when using this:1: Clean properly after every use, I brought some wire brushes and gave this a good cleaning with them after every time I used it, no water required, just the wire brush (I found some that are toothbrush size that are perfect for getting in the small spaces), If you don't do this, the wire mesh gets clogged up with ash and the embers sometimes go out when they don't get enough oxygen, I found this out the hard way!2: Personal preference, but I use a blowtorch to get this going, the candle method was too time consuming for me, 10 seconds with a blowtorch and its good to go, I also check on it after 30 mins and 2 hours just to make sure it hasn't gone out3: You don't need an expensive Smoking Cabinet, I smoke using an old Metal Filing Cabinet with some holes drilled in the drawers to allow the smoke to circulate, all you need to do is make sure there is somewhere for the air to get in (I open the bottom drawer) and drill a couple of holes in the top of it as well, took me about 10 mins to do!

Pretty poor
Looks like it should work well, and, now and again it does. Problem is it’s too hit and miss. You pack the dust too tight or too loosely and it gives up. And when it does decide to work, the tiny dribble of smoke it gives off is ridiculous. Been trying to do a side of salmon for two days now!

New to the smoking world but found this so easy to use. Lasts for ages and great results
