21-inch Backgammon Set - Brown Board and Playing Surface - White and Light Brown Points

Very happy, the first one we ordered was a miniature version of a traditional, vacuum and set, and then I looked up how big back and set should be, and ordered this one! Nice quality! Very similar to the one my parents had growing up!

My son was in need of home schooling. My job, as his teacher, was to find fun creative ways outside of the normal curriculum to keep the teachable moments at their peak. Backgammon provides the opportunity to enjoy a good game of both chance and skill while continually reintroducing number challenges in a fun environment. This board is bigger than most and, because of its larger surface area, adds to the enjoyment of rolling the dice and scooting the chips over a longer but manageable distance. The quality I was looking for in both the board and its pieces was still there because the board was properly felted with a fine nap, which gave it a professional look and feel. The fine felt also lended the ability to quiet down the dice roll when things got a bit heated near the end of a match. The markers on the board are professionally sewn in right along their edges, so you do not get that dog-eared peel up that could be annoying when you are expecting the chip or chips to glide over the markers but instead getting knocked out of your fingertips due to the sudden jerk of an unwanted bump. The chips and the dice are of good quality. Both my son and I love the satiny feel of the chips that are just ever so slightly beveled on both sides around the perimeter to help the glide and to prevent any possibility of the aforementioned jerk. As far as durability goes, I gave it a four only because you never can be too sure about the hinges, but at this time there are no signs of hinge issues. If you have the desire to get a good backgammon set, and as long as you have a good size playing area to play in, get this set. It will hold up to your expectations.

Very nice board at a reasonable price. It's a very large game board with felt lining and single stitched insets. Overall I feel the case is very nice and presentable. A couple minor notes: when the case is open and laid on a table, the latches prevent the board form laying flat unless you bend them back from the full-open detent location). This is minor. Also the tokens are >1" in diameter and quite thick and substantial - but the dark tokens are not tan or brown as expected, they are a faded rose-color and dont match color theme of the set. This is minor, but noteworthy. The die are a little smaller than I had expected for such a large gameboard - and again, this is very minor.

I ordered this specific set after spending some time reading reviews from mulitple backgammon expert sites. This is simply the one that comes up again and again as best bang for the buck. I have to agree, set is well built, dice and pcs are quality, made of heavy material so they feel great. The set plays quietly which I prefer. The size is great, the stitching is great, I really have no complaints! If there was any down side I would say its the latches that seal the table when closed.

A good looking well made board. A great value, tournament size board, for the money. I love the size of the checkers; easy to handle. The board is also a portable attaché style. Nice!

We are very happy with this purchase, great value for an old school quality product. beautiful colours, design and feel, we even shipped this from Amazon in America as our criteria was not met with the website in the uk. Thank you very much, we are enjoying playing on this magnificent board already many times, great job guys..

I bought this set for two reasons: Buyer reviews and the 21" size of the set. When I received the set, I immediately noticed that the dice cups were not well made. There is no lip on the edge of the cup to assist with rolling and the cups themselves were very cheap. The felt was already pulling away from the case as if there was not enough glue applied. Not a big deal as I would like to get a cool set of cups anyway. But, after noticing the felt/glue situation, I noticed that the molded felt playing surface was somewhat the same way around the edges. One reviewer noticed that the "home" for the stones was too long for them. You can almost fit one more stone in there. This bothers me for some reason. That's the bad news...The good news is that the size is perfect. Plenty of dice-rolling space and the points are sewn in pretty well. The feel of the felt is good and the stones are solid and hefty. If the company shaved off $20 off the cost of this set, I would give it a better rating.

I am really impressed with the quality of this board. It really is BIG, so check and see if the dimensions are right for you. It was bigger than I thought, but I like it. My first board came to me with a broken latch and they got a new board out to me in 2 days. Very happy with it.

Excellent quality and it looks as good as in the photos. Very happy with the purchase.

Arrived as advertised. Some smudges on the checkers, but otherwise in fairly good condition.
