Ultimate Grizzly Mod Kit by Hell's Kitchen Tools | for the Grizzly G1015

I had a terrible experience with this mod kit. #1 you have to cut the shaft and platen to adapt the mod kit. #2 The original shaft has two tightening knobs. Once you cut the shaft you only have one knob and the shaft loosens up and the belts fly off. #3 The welded mod kit components are crooked(there's no way to change this) and the belt rides crooked. I adjusted it so many times back and fourth that the adjustment knobs threads wore out and I have to replace it. More wasted time and money. I spent 4 hours trying to line everything up and i'm very mechanically inclined. #4 Even if the belt rides on all wheels it vibrates badly, it's not smooth and difficult to sand anything. #5 After spending 4 hours lining up the belt I realized that every time you adjust the angle the belt runs crooked and flies off. I then have to adjust everything and waste more time. #6 The mod kit does not come with the wheels(I was aware and ordered them) but these cheap people don't include the bolts or plastic washers!!! I had to waste more time driving around looking for plastic washers. Home Depot doesn't sell them and I couldn't find the right type! In the end I was excited to sharpen my knife and make another knife during the weekend but I wasted my weekend trying to get the grinder to work and driving around for plastic washers and bolts. It was so frustrating and I was so disappointed that I didn't look at or touch the grinder for over a week. I even had to wait to write this review because I was so furious and disgusted with this so called mod kit. I made a really bad decision.

Great idea, hard to get working , no support. There is a video on you tube and one in there site that did not help make it work for me, you need see it run of do any grinding. I finally got it working but the tracking is poor it will work but not eazy. Might be because my grinder is old

I've seen two negative reviews on this product and while they're not without some merit I do think they might be a little out of place. Firstly, in my experience, this kit went together easily, installed without effort and had a clear and concise description of the additional parts needed and provided an excellent video on their website going over installation and adjustment. I'm not saying that tracking doesn't take a little time to get correct, because it does, but as someone who builds a lot of his own equipment for his shop I can tell you that building something like this takes a lot of planning and forethought to get right. The value of this kit is in time saved, when I calculate what it would cost for me to take time out of my day to make something like this it becomes obvious. I've been a blade smith for 24 years, full-time for the past 12 years - the time I spend on "fun projects" is money lost that I could have been making. That being said, I have four other 2"x72" grinders in the shop so I'm well versed in all the subtle nuances that each unit, even ones manufactured by the same company, can and do have. All in all, this unit takes a very capable two wheeled unit by Grizzly and expands its potential! Having another grinder in the shop with a 2" radius wheel saves time in changing belts, the extended arm holding the t-plate and platen make it more comfortable to use; no more standing with my belly right up to the work bench! I often use the bottom wheel of this mod for woodwork - much more accessible compared to the stock 8" drive wheel. My advice, be patient when adjusting, think through any problems you may have before adjusting four different things at once and use quality belts. Cheap paper backed, low-grit belts and even low-end cloth belts are often saturated in glue making them overly stiff and, in some cases, not bound together precisely - you can barely get them to track half-assed on a $2000 KMG - this kit is no different. I've also talked to the staff over at Hell's Kitchen Tools and found them to be both accessible and respective of their customers needs. Bottom line, if you're looking expand what you can do with your existing G1015 or looking for a new 4 wheel grinder set up, give this kit a try! The steel this is made of is nice and thick but after that when you have to cut the shaft the holes that llock it in place can no longer be used I had to drill a rap a new one for the price it should come with the wheels and hardware to mount them there are no instructions you have to watch a video which skip many steps an does not show you any close ups would have like to give a better review but for the price with no wheels and no writing instructions can been done better

The media could not be loaded. I love the way it completely changes your options from the basic set up to this badassery. I have had my Grizly for about 7 years now and I can say it did it's job, but always left me wanting something more versatile. This Grizzly Mod is heaven sent. I did have to purchase a new shaft cuz mine was an older version that didn't have the guide holes to stabilize the shaft from twisting. It came in the mail three days later, I had it swapped out cut down and assembled.. fidgeted with the tracking (there are three places to track. (watch the video on tracking And you can cheat by putting a stop of electrical tape in the center of the top wheel. A truick from one of the judges on forged in fire. ) and now I'm running this thing like a Beast. I also messaged Hell's kitchen tools and they gladly chatted with me when I hit a snag. They were extremely helpful and even followed up with me to check on my progress. I'm definitely going to be buying more products from them in the future.

I love this thing. For all those people wanting this ill tell you as from now its a mod kit. Youll have to do adjustments to your machine. But don regreat a cent. Fast shipping very nice people and Awsome toughness. Just took my time clean all screw holes and setting it up. That easy!!!
