It works!
This little trap Works, IF, you know how to use it. I had paid my pest control guy 600.00 bucks to get rid of gophers that were tearing up my landscaping. After two months with no results, I did some research and found this trap online. I bought it, found a fairly new gopher hole, and placed the trap according to the instructions. It took me four days to catch a gopher. So, two months, pest control company 0, four days homeowner 1. This trap is very easy to use. 1. find a gopher hole. 2. Dig out around the gopher hole so that there is a slight descending trail leading down to the hole. 3. Set the trap by pushing the arm down and setting the trigger mechanism. 4. Set the trap at the mouth of the hole, and cover everything except the trapping mechanism with dirt. Covering the trap with dirt (except the mechanics on top) is important because the idea is that they feel like they are still underground, until it is too late. The pest control company I was using, was using another type of trap that required poking holes in the ground around a gopher hole and then driving a pick through the ground to create another hole that would be used to put their trap in. After two months of that, my yard was looking like Swiss Cheese. To conclude. The trap was made out high quality plastic and metal. It was super sturdy and well made. The value compared to the what the pest guy charges is unbelievable. The functionality was spot on compared the ones that the company used. The Catchability was 4 days compared to two months + In closing. I really like this trap. When you are done, you have the one hole that the gopher made to deal with, not a hundred holes that were a product of a bunch of failed attempts.

UPDATED: Excellent design and value, but not for squirrels
I bought 3 of these to help cull the crazy squirrel population in my yard. Might work well for smaller rodents, but not for squirrels. Setting was dead easy and just threw some bird seed in the back of the trap. Construction was solid. I set all 3 near my bird feeders last night and woke up to one with a wriggling squirrel in it - he was too big to fit in and the snap was not sufficient to terminate . Not a pleasant site. Took the mallet to it and wound up throwing the trap and rodent away. Will do the same with the other two. @Gonzo, make a larger one for squirrels and you'll have a winner. If you are looking to eliminate a squirrel problem: I started 2 years ago with a pair of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6JKVK4/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Damn heavy duty. They worked great, but are very tough to set and did rust a bit. Still work well. Like all of these traps, tie them down! If you snag a rodent and do not remove right away, predators will take the meal and trap away. Fox recently carried the trap (managed to chew through the string tying it down) and left it in the street with half a squirrel. Truck ran over it and good-bye trap. I wanted something that was easier to set and tried: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C4J2T9D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nice construction and much easier to set than the one above, but it went 6 months without a nibble - in the same area that the WCS trap was set. Then about 2 weeks ago, it disappeared. Same day as the one above. I suspect the fox took that one further away as it is much lighter. I am left with 1 WCS tube trap and 2 Gonzo. I have just ordered 2 WCS 'Shorty' (directly from them, cheaper than amazon). Using wire instead of string to tie them down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE: Maybe I spoke too soon. Gonzo snapped a squirrel this morning. Smaller rodent than before, but terminated. A little too close for comfort emptying the tube, but I did re-set it. WCS shorty arrived and they are a nice (hopefully) rust-proof black.

Try something else.
No luck with this product. Gopher kept burring it and never triggered. I kept digging deeper and deeper, this Gopher outsmarted trap, bait, and everything else i was throwing at it. I ended up using a repellant that evicted Gopher to my neighbor’s yard. I will see him again in the summer and the eviction will continue.

Great and effective trap, easy to use.
Caught gopher within 2 hours after learning how to properly use the trap. Here are some tips. When you find an active hole, digital it out enough to lay the trap somewhat flat inside, so that the mouth of the trap lines up with the hole. I put peanuts in the back of the trap. For those of you complaining that the gopher fills it with dirt, its because you are not blocking out all the light. Its best to cover the trap with loose soil/dirt as to make sure the light is blocked out completely. If you are unsure, also throw a bucket over it too. There must be NO LIGHT or it will get filled with dirt. Do some research on how to properly trap gophers. Blindly setting a trap with no knowledge will not get you good results. If you do it right, this trap works every time. Although it doesnt always kill them quickly. Sometimes they suffer for hours. FYI.

Effective but not built to last
This trap has a nice design but the constructions is flimsy to say the least. I caught one mole fairly quickly after setting the trap but the plastic trigger broke when the trap was tripped so I was only able to use it once.

Works, but can't get the bugger out so I can reuse it
Once I figured out how to set this up right, I caught the mole overnight. He had been digging around the trap for a few days. I finally dug deeper and pushed dirt all around the back and front so there was no light, leaving the trip bar with enough room to move. Since a friend of mine had had a terrible experience with this trap where a skunk got his nose stuck In it (thankfully the garbage truck came by and was able to free the skunk without getting sprayed), I put a milk crate upside down over the set trap and secured the crate down with U shaped stakes so nothing could get into the trap over night. I wanted to reuse the trap as I have more than one visitor to trap, but there are no instructions either in the box, online, or even on YouTube for how to remove the animal once you have trapped one. I tried pushing the bar down, shaking the trap, etc, but it would not release the dead mole. I hate to throw something like that in the garbage, not to mention the financial burden of having to buy traps over again. If the maker reads this, I hope they'll post instructions somewhere on how to empty the trap and let me know where.

Worked in less than 24 hours
Just a normal suburban guy that is trying to grown a lawn for his kids. Had a gopher that started tearing up my yard. I don't like the thought of killing things unless needed so I tried everything to get the gopher to leave. Destroyed tunnels, flooded them, sonic noise, and different smells. Nothing worked. Finally decided it had to go. I had to dig out a few inches from the hole left by the gopher as the trap wouldn't fit. It was still sticking out a ways but I had maybe a 3rd in the ground and thought that would be enough. I covered the sides with dirt and that was it. Next day the gopher was dead. I was worried I would find a gopher suffering but it was long dead. I was unable to get the gopher back out of the trap. I released the wire by pressing down and shook the crap out of it but the dead gopher would not budge. I could have done a bit more work to get it out but pacifist me didn't want to touch the thing. Ended up just throwing the whole thing out, for $17 I'll just buy another one if a gopher shows up.

Great pocket gogher trap
This is the best pocket goghertrap I have ever used. I caught 21 pocket goghers with it last year which totally cleaned out my problem area.
