Le Creuset Stoneware Mortar and Pestle Set, 10 oz., White

I have never owned a mortar and pestle, and decided I wanted one because I love to cook and am addicted to kitchen stuff! For the most part everything I order belongs in the kitchen. When I started looking online, I discovered that they come in so many different materials - porcelain, stone, wood, etc. Well then I was totally confused as to which way to go so, as always, I started reading reviews (thank God for reviews)! After several days, I took the plunge and ordered the Le Creuset. It had good reviews and I could get it in red which is the accent color in my kitchen. I have now mastered using it and I love it!! I keep it sitting out on a little shelf in my kitchen, and when not using it, it looks pretty just sitting there. Another great purchase from Amazon!

I purchased this because it matches my other kitchen products. I need this to crack Peppercorns but it falls short. Not what I expected. It looks great but does not work well. It is too small.If you want this for Peppercorns, don't buy it. The handle is small and does not cover much surface area and the more you use it, it tends to hurt your Hands. If your purpose is to crack a few peppercorns at a time then it works but you can not put a tablespoon in and expect to crack them. You will end up with cracked ones, some will be pulverized and some will be whole. Your better off using a pepper mill. This thing is a total waste for my purposes.It is made well as far as material but not functional. If you are a Pro? you do not want this. This is fine for very small quantity's.On Amazon they have that large Stone Mortar and Pestle, I am going to give that a try. Good Luck

Received product in in timely manner. It is very pretty to look at but it is rather small so I would say it is for grinding spices and not so much for using to mash-up foods unless it it a small amount like a quarter of a cup or so. I was gonna use it to mash plantains for mofongo but I will have to do it in very small batches. Country of origin is Thailand/China. I know a lot of ppl don't like when something is from China. It is very well made though. I highly recommend it. I love it.

This is one of the best things I have treated myself to in a long time. Not sure how I ever lived without this mortar and pestle... makes it so easy to make quick salad dressings and alioli. I thought it was a luxury item I would just occasionally use, but have found myself using it all the time. The texture of the interior is just perfect, makes crushing garlic so quick and easy. And cleans so easily by hand or in the dishwasher. By far the best mortar and pestle I have ever used!

I'd been waiting a long time to get a mortar and pestle. I'd looked at marble and stone ones and even hand-thrown pottery styles. This was my year, when Mom and I decided to try a new Bloody Mary recipe and make our own celery salt to put on the rims of the glasses. I've admired the Le Creuset cookware for a long time and I have a few pieces. This was a great addition to the kitchen and I love the deep Cherry red color. It does the job and looks great too.

The pestle broke very easily! Shards of pottery all over the place. It's hollow, and had very thin walls for the work it is intended to do.

What you see is what you get. Lovely and useful. Good for grinding spices.

The picture does give justice to the pristine quality of the Le Cruset motor and pestle. The only thing I did not know was the size, but I was pleased it was not too small in person. The mortar and pestle are the perfect size for crushing herbs and making a homemade salad dressing.Very happy with my purchase!
