Delicious
To those who “hate” fruitcake: Give this a try. Not full of that weird glace fruit—just the right amount of nuts and a cherry or two. Yummy!

Always the best, year after year
This fruitcake is so moist and flavorful, nothing in it that tastes artificial or icky. It's been a family tradition for years and years.

Avoid
My husband really likes fruitcake. We get one every year locally either grocery store, Costco or bakery. Low supply this year so based on reviews ordered from Amazon. Very dry. Very expensive . Flavor Very strong which isn't a deal breaker ... but the texture is horribly dry.

Not what's pictured, comes all crumbly and too expensive!
Bought this as a gift for my dad because he loves fruitcake and Jane Parker's was on a lot of people's list as one of the top no-alcohol versions. It was a disaster of a gift.First, you don't get what is pictured. The picture is a rectangular loaf. What came was a round loaf.Second, when he opened it, it was all falling apart inside the packaging. Fortunately, my dad is super forgiving and said it's the taste that counts, but it was super embarrassing to give a gift that looked so awful. As for the taste, it didn't make up for the terrible presentation. It was fine but not great. The nuts on top were bland and a little stale. The cake was sweet without much spice. And it crumbled so much, I understand why other reviewers say it's dry even though I actually think it's pretty moist. It's so expensive and looks terrible that I definitely would never buy this or anything else from Jane Parker again. Fortunately, I had picked up another brand on a whim which was way cheaper and delicious so it wasn't a totally embarrassing gift giving day.

like others had high hopes as I anxiously awaited this ...
Maybe memories cannot be repurchased. I, like others had high hopes as I anxiously awaited this fruitcake. It is a heavy cake but not as large as you would think. I ate maybe two slices. I gave it to my brother who loved it. But for me not so much. The fruit cakes in my memory, that I ate with my Mother were very dark and had those big glistening red and green fruits mixed in, all big and round and mixed in with the nuts. There was equal cake and fruit. Dark rich moist cake. The Jane Parker cake was mostly cake and a bit dry. The cake color was not as dark as I thought it would be. I was prepared to pay the cost for an excellent fruit cake. Not a total loss but no where near my quest for the memory. From reviews of others searching this seems to be the best out there. So I guess the solution is bake your own via memory.
