Internet and Fax 56K USB Modem, V.90/V.92 by Sewell

I have used it for 1 month. With Windows 7, it was plug & play. No set-up problems or anything. Just Plug in cables and go with Windows Fax&Scan. Do not need a scanner, you can fax doc's & pic's from computer files. Now you can compose a letter to your Senator or Representative and FAX it to all their offices with a better chance it will be read.Quote the contradictions in the emails they send you (copy & paste), with how they really vote. Also you can FAX them quotes that show conflicting differences between what they say in separate Emails.The uses are endless. Get one and have fun keeping the politicians on their toes. Fax's are far more effective than a phone call, cheaper & easier than a letter.

I bought this USB modem adapter a week ago. I have a laptop with Windows 10 and a free phone line access via Obi200. The modem adapter installed itself in seconds. I used the Microsoft Windows Fax & Scan application that came with Windows 10. This modem adapter works like a charm! I can send and receive faxes with no problems. No issues at all. The Microsoft Windows Fax & Scan application was easy to configure, too. The price of this item was about $18 - worth every penny!

I purchased one like this several years ago and it worked great. I moved and I lost it. So I purchased a second one. It lasted for two days. I now have a third one. We will see how long it last.

UPDATE:Failed after 9 months. Now Windows does not even recognize the device. Tried testing on a few different computers, and while the red light comes on, the device will not work. Device Manager does not see the device either. Going with a different brand. Shame that this thing died already.Original review:My father still uses dialup, especially for his fax, and is stubborn about moving away from the technology for now. It’ interesting to see that 25% of the reviews on this adapter are about using it with the PhoneTray software. We wanted a way to block certain phone numbers due to some bad business deals that were made. We have a cordless system. But, as most everyone who’s owned one knows, they have a limited block list. That’s when I got to thinking that, if a computer has an RJ-11 port (a phone port) that used to be used for connecting via dial-up service, then why can’t it be used for number blocking?The software and hardware has the ability to use phone numbers when calling out or sending a fax. So, why shouldn’t it be able to receive an incoming call, identify the number, and block it? Unfortunately, most computers these days don’t have an RJ-11 port. Upon asking for advice about decent communication hardware manufacturers, Sewell came up. When we found this adapter, we weighed the price against its usefulness. We decided that it was worth the money if it helps us block most telemarketers.Now, I don’t know how well it works in Win 7. The spare computer I use with it was only powerful enough to hold XP. I think I had some driver problems at first. But, that was only because I was still looking for a free version of PhoneTray that was up-to-date enough that it would work with newer hardware. Once I got everything to work together, it’s picked up every number that’s called our house and sent that number to PhoneTray where it decides whether or not to block the number. If it decides to block it, the adapter does that accordingly after only one ring.The one side effect we have is that, even though our cordless system is programmed to only ring 4 times, the ring goes on a little longer before the answering machine picks it up. But, in our opinion, that's minor.

This was a very good modem while it was new but after 3 months it got quite hot and no longer works. The price was great but wish it had functioned longer as it gave me slightly faster data transmission.

When my new laptop came without a phone jack, all of a sudden I realized how often I used it for faxing documents. Didn't feel like getting an internal card for my PC, so I looked around for USB fax modems and there it was. The Sewell Voice/Fax 56k USB Modem was a reasonably priced item, so I figured I'd give it a try. I plugged it into my PC's USB port, and Windows 7 recognized it right away, and installed drivers, no disk needed. ONE OF THE REASONS I WENT WITH THIS ONE IS BECAUSE IT HAD 4 STAR RATING, WORKS WITH WINDOWS 10 AND WITH THE EXCELLENT PRICE ALONG WITH PRIME WHAT COULD I LOOSE. Working as expected. Very satisfied with the product and price. Installed on Windows 10 without installing any driver.

Arrivato in 4 giorni lavorativi, installato sul computer nella quale viene utilizzato come fax. Installazione davvero semplice, è fornito un mini cd con i relativi driver, scaricabili anche da internet. A seguito dell'installazione (molto semplice) il fax di windows ha funzionato da subito. Veloce nella connessione, mai errori di ricezione.

Este producto para mí tiene la máxima valoración porque hasta ahora satisface mis necesidades y por eso me gusta mucho, además es muy facila de utilizar, por tal razón se lo recomiendo a todas las personas que necesiten un producto similar a este, este es muy bueno y hasta ahora no me ha dado ninguna molestia, todo hasta ahora ha sido satisfacción.

Alimenté par port USB, aussitôt reconnu par Windows 7, dispose de 2 prises RJ11 permettant de l'intercaler entre prise téléphonique et téléphone.Pour mon utilisation, fonctionne parfaitement en France avec le logiciel PhoneTray, notamment pour afficher en gros caractères visibles de loin sur écran de PC le numéro de l'appelant (ainsi que son nom s'il a été enregistré dans le logiciel en correspondance avec le numéro), sous la seule condition d'avoir préalablement souscrit à un Service de présentation du numéro.
