Edit: (I wasn't able to directly answer the question of spacing for someone so I will put it here.) According to my measuring tape, when I measured 5 different spaces in the lights, it was 4". I even had my husband come and double check and he also got 4". I hope this helpsI love these lights! They have the warm white that we were looking for and the colors we were looking for. They look perfect on our fence and we had a little bit extra to wrap around a little tree. We have since ordered more because we decided to decorate the other trees along the fence as well.The lights: Bright and colorful. They also have twinkle settings, but are a little more like strobe lights so we won't be using those. There is a lovely mode that soft shifts from the warm lights to the colors that is very pretty. Also helps if you can't make up your mind which you like more, white or colors.The Remote: I think there could be some improvement on the remote. You have to be within about 10ft away and can't have anything in the way for it to work. For example; we can't change them while inside the house. We have to be on our front porch and make sure there is nothing in the way.The tangle: I love the lights, but I wish we had bought a couple of the shorter strands to put together instead of the long one for our project. We ended up spending a large chunk of time, about an hour or so, untangling the lights. If I had it to do again, same brand, just a shorter length for ease of organization.Durability: I will tentatively say that these are pretty durable so far (If that changes I will come back and update the failure time) It rained the night we put them up and they are still working just fine. I was worried about all the untangling that they might have broken, but nope, all still working. I would add though that when we untangled them, we did yank and pull. We were careful enough about it.All in all Great lights. Can't wait to set up the second set when they arrive.

Okay you don't even know. Not only is this a super-long strand of lights that can be white or multi-color, not only is it ok for outdoors, NOT ONLY does it have a REMOTE (hello the future!)--but it has a timer, so it goes off after 6 or 8 hours--and evidently it REMEMBERS what time I like to turn them on. That bit I'm not sure how it's doing it but it is and it's so cool. Even without that last bit these are wonderful lights. I just want to advise you that there's no instruction manual, but the piece next to the plug has instructions on it and you want to read that BEFORE you're outside in the dark and the cold and have to bend way down to read it where it's plugged in. You can kind of figure out how it works from the remote, but not really, the instructions written next to the plug are quite helpful. I like my lights to be on multi-color, no flashing, no changing colors, for 8 hours, and they are coming on every night around 5 all by themselves now (and turning themselves off 8 hours later) and it's so very cheerful out there on my balcony. They've really made my holidays that much better. I definitely recommend these lights.

Love the tiny size of the LEDs, and the ability to either have all lights white, or all lights in multi colors at the push of a button on the remote. I needed this 500-light set for my modest 4.5-foot tree -- I found that a 300-light string was not quite enough. I was not too crazy about any of the flashing or color-changing modes -- I wish the flash rate could be slowed down, it's a bit too frantic. The tiny remote control is a great feature too.

The media could not be loaded. Love this. It’s bright enough throughout the house, lightweight, and the noise has different options it’s so spooky and loud. Definitely scared the neighbors when walking by. however, since its motion sensor the lights only turns on when sensor is activated. But if you know how to work around electricity, you can always plug the sensor elsewhere and leave the lights on. I’m using a timer, so every time it shuts off the noise options resets. But that’s fine with me. Doesn’t hurt to change it.
