First of all amazing quality product. Comes already fitted with front dvd like cover (be gentle with that...a bit flimsy). Everything fitted perfectly including screws holding hdd which many people said were wrongly aligned, but mine were perfect. It slid in smoothly on my acer aspire e1-571. Used a 500gb WD hdd into the caddy. NOW...after insertion it wasn't detected. For this to solve right click on start and search, type "windows memory diagnostic" tool. It will restart and scan the memory & voila your hdd will be visible in device manager. Attaching all the pics showing port, screws and design. Hope this helps. Will update if the caddy fails in long run.

I have used This 12.7 mm Caddy to House a 256 GB Kingston SSD in My Optical (DVD-RW) Drive in My HP Pavillion g6 1302 TX Laptop ( Which is more than 7 years old now) . The Caddy Was a prefect fit along with working light indicators( blue & purple on activity ) and worked flawlessly - I could detect my 256 GB SDD in BIOS Options and Am Perfectly Content & Feel Satisfied With This Product . I bought this product for my Dell Vostro 3560.When I have upgraded my laptop with SSD, its internal hard disc became spare for me. Meanwhile DVD writer got defect.I saw this product in Amazon sponsor ads.I personally opened back of laptop and could remove DVD writer after seeing some videos on YouTube.I could install this caddy and it's working fine.Excellent concept.The product is really good fabricated, packed and supplied.

I am a computer hobbyist and have been building and upgrading motherboards, processors on desktop/laptops since many years now. The outside dimensions and form of the12.5 mm hdd caddy is an exact replica of the Toshiba Samsung DVD writer case which I replaced. It was easy to install on my Fujitsu LH532 laptop and recognised the 500GB hdd without the need to fiddle with the dip switch. The front plastic panel of the DVD drive (having the push button switch, LED) can be removed and fitted on the caddy. To access the press-fit locks of the DVD writer cover, switch off laptop when the DVD writer tray is open and then use 2-3 mm flat screw driver to remove the cover. Check compatibility of the interface connector of existing DVD RW before buying.

I have a 2011 Mac which was running out of storage. Needed a 12.7mm replacement. The only issue was removing the plastic cover as it was to be used as internal drive with so many screws to be open especially many hidden below stickers but wasn’t that difficult.The good part is that they provide a screwdriver. I used one of my old external hdds to save cost.You can find many videos online to help you with it.

I bought this for my Toshiba L650 laptop which is 8 years old. Installation was very easy. I removed the back cover of the laptop, unscrewed the dvd drive. Then I placed the HDD in this caddy and slid it into the dvd bay. This caddy has a front bezel plate, but I replaced it with the bezel of the dvd drive for perfect fit. It has a blue red led i education that is cool.

1st product was not fitting properly so ordered a replacement which fitted perfectly. It can hold any 2.5" SATA drive. It has LED lights blue for connect & blinks red & blue when caddy is accessed.

I have order second Hdd caddy but i received old not working DVD writer and Return option is not available on my order page... This item is Amazon fulfilled... First time bed experience from Amazon
