Love it
It has been awhile since I have purchased a Madden Game, because I normally just get NCAA, but I wanted to try it out this year.I really have enjoyed it and I feel like it is a quality game. Maybe if I had purchased it the past couple of years I wouldn't notice many differences, but as it is, I am having a really good time playing it. There are plenty of modes to keep my attention, although I have spent most of my time in the "Owner Mode." It is fun to be able to set prices for tickets, merchandise, etc...I also like that I can draft the players from NCAA, although the player ratings seem to be pretty off, but I can deal with that.I was able to adjust the difficulty by adjusting the sliders, and the game seems to play quite realistically now - meaning I win some and I lose some, instead of just beating everyone by 80 points. Overall, this is a quality game.

Visually striking, fun gameplay, dense navigation...
I like playing Madden NFL video games, but I don't get them every year. I mostly like to pick up and play offline games or play offline franchise, and while I can get pretty into the games and the general manager aspect of it, I'm probably more of a casual Madden player than a hardcore Madden gamer. So feel free read on if you are looking for that point of view. After playing Madden NFL 11 into submission, I finally made the move to the newest entry in the Madden NFL franchise upon the release of Madden NFL 25. While I really enjoy it so far, I'm still adjusting to the differences between it and the game I've spent countless hours playing over the last couple of years. Here's a few of my initial impressions:1) The graphics and in-game presentation are very well done. The visuals are much more lifelike and like an NFL game on TV. What I did find disappointing were the coach models and the generic head scans for players and other extras. EA still doesn't seem to have solved the weirdness with the way some coaches appear, like the unnatural shoulder and neck anatomy, odd skin textures and questionable head scans. Head scans for `everyman' players and sideline extras are also exactly the same from years prior, which is another area where I was hoping to see improvements.2) The controls are familiar, but come with new additions like the Precision Modifier for ball-carriers and quarterbacks that adds another level of control. When you develop the touch to make that last tackler miss with a nasty combination juke or drop a pass right over that top of a linebacker into the soft spot of the defense, it's much more satisfying than it was when you did the same with a simple button tap or press. There's also a sprint button with stamina meter, which is a nice touch from the press-and-hold-forever sprint button of editions past (although, I have to admit that I still prefer the auto-sprint feature of Madden 11). And maybe the most welcome gameplay difference for me is opposing quarterbacks will pull the ball down, evade pressure and take sacks like their real-world counterparts, rather than standing tall in the pocket at all times, then magically throwing incomplete passes at the very last second once the pressure gets to them.3) One downside for me is the CBS-centric animations and commentary team. It's not they the do that bad a job, but I'm just not a fan. I would personally prefer Madden to more closely mirror Fox, NBC or ESPN. There also seem to be fewer sound bytes to call players by name, which was a nice touch in prior games, especially once you start adding computer-generated rookies. Now, they simply refer to the average player as "player" and use generic language like "it looks like an upper body injury" even after the injury is diagnosed, which really set back the in-game analysis.4) Navigating the menus and various interfaces can be a bit frustrating and exhausting. This is one of the areas where I prefer substance over style. Coming from the fast and responsive Madden NFL 11 navigation where I had basically developed muscle memory in my hands to get to where I need to be, this is the most jarring aspect of Madden NFL 25. Rather than simple menus and lists, the game has image panels for menus and relatively long load times between actions. Roster management and statistics are also less-than-intuitive, with an in-line indicator and yellow highlight bar that makes it more difficult to read what is on screen and compare numbers and attributes between players. All in all, these elements look good, but they are very dense, and the performance leaves something to be desired.5) There's a ton to do. I haven't even touched most of the game modes, but it seems much more robust than previous Madden games, at least the ones I have played previously. In all fairness, I haven't explored Madden NFL 25 as much as I should have to write a thorough review, but I have played enough of what I have played prior to say that it was a good purchase. I can't speak to your reasons or interest level in considering Madden NFL 25, but I would give it a recommendation. I think there is a lot of value in the game for the $60 you would spend. I certainly expect to get my money's worth out of it - and may still be getting my money's worth out of it when the next Madden game is released. Good luck!

Madden 25 RULES!
I grew up in a NFL household so John Madden is very noticeable to me. This is my first NFL Madden purchase because according to consumers the previous titles weren't all that hot. Madden 25 is so damn awesome. You have to work your way up over time because the defenses for Seattle, Baltimore, Cleveland and Dallas love playing 2 Man Under a.k.a. man-to-man coverage. So you have to be extremely accurate on offense or you just might end up giving your opponents free points. Anyway this game is definitely worth checking out.

An Improvement Over Madden '13, but That's not Saying Much
Two years ago, I started really getting into Madden along with fantasy football. Madden 11 was my first experience, and I didn't really have anything to compare it to, so I thought it was pretty good. Looking back though, I know it was the worst Madden I've played. For the longest time I worked with madden '12, the last of the pure "franchise mode" instead of this "connected careers" garbage. Madden '13 was terrible for connected careers as the offensive AI was terrible. I liked the infinity engine, but almost all of the changes were for the worst. This brings me to Madden '25. I have only started playing it four days ago at the time of this review, but from what I've done so far it is a fast improvement over '13, but that is not saying much.Gameplay - The graphics keep getting better and better. The crowd is more realistic, Jim Nantz and Phill Sims commentating can get a bit repetitive, but I can tell they've done a lot of work. They have different things to say for certain situations, have elongated conversations about the teams. As in what happened to them last year, what they've done this year, and what they can do to get better. Its the best they've ever done at it. The infinity engine and moves are far improved, and the tackling is better than ever.Online - I've had tremendous success so far in online play, but if I've learned anything, its that its extremely hard to play defense in madden 25. If you can't control a player and anticipate at a high level, your play calling better be stellar. My skill points level is high, but I feel like its a victory when I can hold someone to a field goal and its huge when I get a turnover. Against a very good team, a two possession lead is almost insurmountable. Often man coverage with double safeties over the top, but if its a cat and mouse game of disguising your coverage and hoping you have just the right coverage. Its much easier to run this year, and very easy to get 3-7 yard gains up the middle if you know what you're doing. Outside runs are almost unstoppable with a fast RB like Jamal Charles or Chris Johnson unless you have some user skills.Connected Careers - So glad they brought back fantasy drafts, and its certainly building on what Madden 13 did... more realistic, less repetitive tweets, a better draft board, and a more realistic progression system. I still hate the connected careers though. They should go back to the traditional franchise mode. I'm sure almost everyone can agree. Also, the offensive AI is still bad, though not quite as bad, and its very easy to beat a defensive AI, even on all madden.Practice - I love the new practice tip. You can pit any team against another, or have a game setting, or just the offense on the field. If you hit the select button, you can automatically go back to the "select a play" menu for both offense and defense. A tremendous feature that tops any past madden.Download Updates - The rosters get updated regularly and more than every, excluding the most updated depth charts. I love this new system.Bottom line is, the only major improvements are the rosters, practice, commentating, and graphics. The online play is good, but I wish it was easier to play defense. Maybe a faster reaction time for defenders. That would make it so much better.

Electronic Arts Madden NFL 25
