Sony LCJ-HL/B Jacket Case for the DSC-HX300 and DSC-HX400V (Black)

Most of the time I am not using my camera it is stored on a shelf, so the case is pointless. On long trips however the extra protection is appreciated. I like knowing the camera is covered/safe to protect it from drops, hits, etc. But when it is being used for a long period of time it is in my hand, and the case just sits idle. It would be nice if there was some provision on the case to attach it to your pants/belt since it does not collapse and then you have this big molded case that you have to lug around somehow... sort of a PITA.....The strap is great. Neck straps scream 'tourist' and just don't work that well for me. However, the hand-strap is really nice as it gives a sense of firmness and security when holding the camera. Really happy with it--- Sony as always makes a great quality product.

Fits well & securely at a good price

The case and strap are well made. The case fits my Sony Cybershot camera like a glove with no space to spare. That makes it convenient protection from light rain or abrasion without adding a lot of bulk, but it does have some drawbacks. The cord fits on the camera, not the case, so when the case comes off you need to hold it or risk dropping it. There's also absolutely no room to hold a spare filter, lens hood, or any of the things I carried in my previous camera case, so those will have to go in a pocket or bellybag.

This case is made very well. The reason why I gave it three stars is because it's difficult to get in and out of the case. If your not in a hurry this will work for you. If you are needing to quickly get to your camera I would look elsewhere. You will miss the shot by the time you get it out. You should also know that the case hangs to the side very close to the camera. This gets in the way on some shots. Getting creative with different angles is frustrating as the case seems to always be in the way. You can completely take the case off if you want but that takes time. I'm going to look for a different alternative.

I used this case every day for 7 weeks while on a trip through Europe. I would not have wanted to travel without it. The hand held strap was worth the cost of the case alone. The case protected my camera and I found it very easy to use throughout the day and night of our travels.

For the money, I find the case to be of limited value. It serves only to give some protection to the camera. It is extremely difficult to attach it the first time - go to Sony's web site for the video, as you will need it. There are no pockets to hold the lens cap or extra batteries or memory cards. I would(and eventually will) look for something more useful.

Great for keeping camera safe, fits like a glove, works with shoulder strap, OEM equipment is the only way to go.
