With their characteristic deep reds & greens, poinsettias have become a classic Christmas flower. The plants feature deep green leaves, & the “flowers” are in fact colored bracts, or leaves, in variegated shapes. To keep poinsettias vibrant all winter, keep temperatures between 60 to 70° Fahrenheit during the day, cooling the plant to 55° Fahrenheit at night. Plants should be watered when soil is completely moist. Indoors, potted poinsettias require about 6 hours of indirect sunlight each day. With a strict care regiment throughout the year, your Poinsettia can survive to bloom another winter. In hot climates — USDA zones 10 through 12 — poinsettias can be planted outdoors & will growup to 15' tall.
