I preordered this book and was anxious to get it, however it is a book about realist painting and drawing in a variety of media. There is nothing hyperrealist about it. If you've seen hyperrealism on line or in person you know the difference. The artist demonstrations are missing vital steps in the process which makes them hard to follow. Mark Crilley's book is better.

As a coffee table book it gets 5 stars. I gave it 3 because I was looking for more than the most minimal instruction when I purchased it. Not what I was expecting it to be.

If you have been following Oak Island on the History channel this book is a must read. It probes into the mystery of the search over decades- the challenges, the disappointments and the clues. What a great read!

I read the reviews and noticed what criticism had been made as to the contents. I thought let’s see. The book is not a step by step guide. It is a very pleasurable exploration of a beautiful form of art. The presentation of the book, from the glorious pictures to the ethos of the artists is evident from page one. I would highly recommend this book for people who are arty not necessarily artists yet. For details on the exactitudes of the techniques I can go to youTube or other. A very pleasant experience some people may call it a coffee table book. I hope the author artists exhibit in the U.K. because I would travel to see it. I have other books on the subject, this is substantive in its differences.

Great step by step instructions to follow helping you reach each final picture and learn techniques along the way, easy to read and understand . I haven't drawn in over 10 years , this book helped me get back without being lazy in my approach.
