Moving Parts X-Cube (Amazon Exclusive)

My brother is one of those Rubiks fanatics and mathematical wizards than can solve the 3x3 Rubiks behind us back in no more than 17 moves. So I found this and said "oh yessss" as his Christmas present. For the first time in years, it stumped him completely. Although he called me today and said he solved it, his girlfriend states that it took him hours on end, lots of frustration and when he was finally done... she mixed it up again! Hahaha I definitely felt this purchase was MORE than worthwhile!

This is a fun, challenging puzzle. It's been a few days, and I haven't solved it yet. (I can usually solve the 3x3 cube in a couple of hours, without using algorithms.)There are really two parts to solving the puzzle: Because it can change shape, the first thing you have to do when it's scrambled is put it back into its original plus/cross shape. Then you have to get the colors in the right place. I haven't yet gotten the puzzle back into the right shape yet, so I'm not even half done after a couple of days.The only downside, and the reason I only gave the puzzle 4 stars, is because the stickers peel easily. I've had it for a few days and some of the stickers are peeling. In comparison, I have a cube that I've had for over three years, and none of the stickers on that show any sign of peeling.

The puzzle itself is fun and challenging. It adds an extra level of challenge to traditional square cubes. That said, the product has some real problems. The stickers are not evenly placed on the squares so they come up easily on the corners. It is also clunky and gets locked up easily when turning. If I had to do it again, I would look for a similar puzzle from a different manufacturer.

So far so good! I gave the X-Cube to my 16 year old son for Christmas. He is a long time cubing enthusiast and usually has whatever cubing twisty puzzle I give him solved quickly. However, he is still perplexed by this cube and has not resorted to the internet for clues. He has theories and has gotten very close, but not perfect. I'm happy that he enjoys and is stumped by this puzzle. Based on my son's experience, I would recommend this puzzle for anyone looking for a new cubing challenge.

I'm sure I will solve this but so far it has been taxing. A Great challenge. For those of you that have solved the 3,4,5...this is a good cube to work with.

Very cool puzzle cube. The only downside is that the blocks don't move as smoothly as other brands' cubes do -- which is the only reason for not giving a 5 star review. But this was the only brand I found for this shape. It's more challenging than most other puzzle cubes. Got it as a gift. The packaging is lovely and it made for a great gift.

It can be hard to turn at times and very tough at times. All together it took me about 2 hours to solve on my first attempt. Its very fun and good for veteran cubers. I would not recommend for someone who is just starting out cubes.

Bought this cube for fun, and expected I was going to have a lot of turning problems and sticking. However, I was surprised by how well this cube turns. Super fun solve, and love the cube a lot. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't have one to expand their cube collection, or just pick up something a little different for a change.
