His style!!!!
Some times when I don't find life enjoyable anymore, and I feel on edge, hearing Johnny Cash read the new testament, gives me a wonderful feeling, that his deep velvet voice is truly telling me something worth while. Instead of all the crap that life has sometimes thrown at me,at all of us. I've heard others narrate the Bible but no one else compares to his style and imagination, how it comes forth. If you like Mr. Cash's voice in Folsom Prison,or In the Garden,or How High's the water mama?" you will likely find this enjoyable. Even comforting. I know I have. After all of his music, down through the years, in the space and time that I've lived and enjoyed his music, I have to say this presentation of the New Testament is just the icing on the cake. I know Johnny Cash made it through, and it helps me to know I will make it through to the end, a winner as he was!

Johnny Cash reads the Bible
The DVD was well done and with the Bible verses on the screen it is easy to follow while Johnny reads. It would be enjoyable to anyone who wants to hear the Bible read.Donna from Kansas

The New King James Version that is a pleasure to listen to and follow visually. Great for new Christians.
This is a wonderful aid to the person who is overwhelmed by the King James Version of the Bible. The King James is often bargain priced and is given with good wishes that the reader will have the tenacity to stick to studying it. Johnny Cash's New King James version is easy to listen to and follow the text visually. Thankfully it picks up where you stop watching it ;you don't have to begin with Matthew every time you want to listen to this New Testament. It's nice to hear the hard things accurately pronounced and it is ideal to watch as a family. It is a fine learning tool.

Beautiful in its simplicity and sincerity.
If you like the New King James Version produced by Thomas Nelson Bible Publishers, you are going to love listening to Johnny Cash reading it.His voice is magnificent and reverent, and he does not over-dramatize. I hate most of the other audio Bibles whenever they inject too much drama into the performance. This is a clear, unadorned, perfect reading with nothing to distract you from the message.I only wish Mr. Cash was still around to give the English Standard Version (ESV) the same treatment!

This is the BEST!
I purchased this for my handicapped brother. He is so enthralled with it that he listens each and every day, sometimes numerous times a day. The DVD is easy to use. The size of the font is easily readable. The words coming off the page in Johnny Cash's voice are truly living words. My brother who can gingerly use a mouse on the computer, browses through the Bible with ease. Even for those of us who are not handicapped, this is a wonderful way to listen to the Word of God.

Johnny Cash Narrates the NKJV New Testament Bible on DVD [1982] [2008]
I received this DVD today and after listening to a few chapters I am very happy with it. As I have not yet listened to it all the way through I cannot provide a proper review, but would like to make some points about this product for your information.1. This is purely an audio DVD. The only image throughout is of an open book showing the text of the King James Version of the New Testament, which changes page as Mr Cash reads. You do not see him at any point. This is not like a film or TV programme. I note this so that you know what to expect, as I wasn't sure what I was getting when I ordered it. I enjoy losing myself in spoken word so this product is ideal as Cash has a unique knack for telling stories in a very engaging way and I can't imagine a voice better suited to the task.2. This is what has been called the 'new edition' of the King James Version of the New Testament. As far as I'm aware it is the same as the old one except for some minor details, such as changing 'thee' to 'you' and 'shalt' to 'shall'. For instance, "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God" becomes, "You shall worship the Lord your God" (Matthew chapter 4, verse 10). It's no problem for me but some may feel differently and there may be other differences that I have not noticed yet.3. Mr Cash does not sing any part of the book. Not even one little psalm. Or strum his guitar. Or hum. Nor is there background music.4. Don't get this confused with Johnny Cash's film on the New Testament, 'The Gospel Road: A Story of Jesus' (1973), in which Mr Cash narrates his own version of the story of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection (shot on location in Israel) with songs and an accompanying album. That film is (currently) available on YouTube and the DVD is on Amazon.co.uk too:(...)5. I know this DVD is described as Region 2 under the 'Product details' section (and I received the region 2 DVD when I used Amazon Prime) but I see that currently there are a couple of third-party sellers selling Region 1 DVD's too. If I was going to use one of these sellers I would check their own product description first. However, in some cases the sellers product description does not specify region, so if you can be bothered then maybe emailing them is a good idea. A bit of a faff but ultimately it's better than getting an incompatible disc.6. I believe that this DVD would be ideal for those who are unable to read, the visually impaired and anyone new to the Bible who would like to hear it read aloud for the first time instead of (or as well as) reading the text themselves. It would also work as a great accompaniment to studying the written text, either in a classroom or at home. And of course it's also a great buy for an ardent Johnny Cash fan like myself!Personally I look forward to spending many happy hours with it.

Johnny Cash Narrates the NKJV New Testament Bible on DVD [1982] [2008]
being a long time Johnny Cash fan i was really looking forward to this DVD as i had heard very good reports about it.the original order was lost in the post but Amazon replaced it without any problem. the replacement arrived and over the next couple of weeks i played the whole disc this is because it runs for over 19 hours.at first i was very pleased with it but then when it got to Mark chapter 13 verses 10 to 14 these were spoken three times but the bible text displayed continued normally and the next few verses from 15 onwards were not spoken at all. then in 1 Corinthians chapter 7 dialogue and picture was out of sync for the whole chapter. finally in Revelations chapter 18 the spoken dialogue for the first 2 pages of text was in the wrong order dialogue correct order text wrong.Amazon duly replaced it and i immediately played the faulty sections on the previous disc hoping that it was just a one off fault but alas the same problems were still present and so i returned this second replacement for a refund. on the whole this was a beautiful rendition of the NKJV New Testament Bible and if you can accept these faults it is well worth it but i was not prepared to accept it hence requesting a refund.

Johnny Cash - An excellent buy
I am very pleased with this purchase. Johnny Cash narrates the New Testament beautifully and it doesn't sound at all as if he is reading it.
