Netgear N600 Dual Band Gigabit modem router
Purchased the N600 to replace my BT Home Hub 2. Homehub was working all riaght - but I wanted to have more flexibility and gigabit access to my networked NAS.Set up was easy - I had the N600 up and running in 15 mins - I thought I would have issues with BT Vision - but even that worked after I rebooted the BT Vision box.I now have Gigabit access to my NAS and my computer - very useful for accessing media files. I also have a guest network running in parallel, with no access to any of the computers/NAS on the main network. The modem does run warmer than the BT Homehub - not really a issue - but I did notice this.Overall a very good modem - my installation is very stable - I have only had to reboot the modem once - not exactly sure what made the network hang - but since then the N600 has been very stable.I would recomend the N600 fully.Update:We started to have issues on the Wifi side - the performance has become very mixed - access to the web keeps dropping, also when my NAS drive is being accessed by my deskside computer (also connected via ethernet)to transfer files from the computer to the NAS drive, the wifi performance drops to zero - ie laptop users no longer have accesst to the web.Was forced to go back to using BT Homehub 2 - the wifi performance is once again perfect. But have now lost the 1G performance between my deskside and NAS - which is really showing when transfering large media files....Spoke to Netgear technical support who have advice that this is know problem with some of the modem/routers and have asked me to replace the unit. Will update when I get a replacement unit and get to try again...Update:New unit has been up and running now for a week and so far if the wifi device is within close range, the signal is stable and wifi performance good. I find that the level of performance is very dependent on the wifi electronics within laptops - i.e. my Lenovo laptop seems to be able to receive a strong signal better than the two Samsung laptops we also have - and even when the signal is strong my Lenovo laptop seems to enjoy a better data rate than the Samsungs (even for the same physical spot).Netgear technical support suggested that I change the channel (on the 'n' network) to channel 9 or 11 - apparently this would give better performance - tried both lat night and didnt really see any difference on the fring of the network. I am going to order a wifi repeater today to see if that will address the performance of the laptops when some distance away from the router

Great wireless router - fast and secure with parental controls
I have cable broadband and while the speed is great (a true 30MB/s), the free router supplied is a bit primitive and the wireless facility is not very good - unless my wireless devices are within three metres of the router with no walls or blockages in the way, I get very slow speed or continual drop-outs. In addition, the free router has only a primitive firewall configuration offering 3 levels of protection, low medium or high. I was never really sure what the difference between the 3 settings was. Finally, the free router had no facility for blocking inappropriate content and we have a small child who likes to use the Internet. A leading PC magazine recommended this router as a best buy and it is easy to see why. Firstly, the wireless facility doesn't suffer from connection problems or drop-outs at all and is much faster than the free router because it allows you to do "channel bonding", ie to amalgamate two wifi channels into one. This doubles the speed at which my iPad talks to the net, up to 70MB/s. Secondly, it has an effective and easy to configure firewall so that it is obvious what is being blocked at each security level. Finally, it has keyword parental controls which seem to work well. Overall, this router was very well worth the money and I love this router and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Great features, but really lacks wireless range!
Bought this product as there was a good deal on it. The unit itself is quite large compared to older routers I've used, but it feels pretty sturdy. It's got some great features like the Traffic monitoring, QoS and the USB functions which allow you to use it like cloud storage (accessible from anywhere over the internet). Was a bit of a pain to setup, there seemed to be some kind of problem with the DHCP server on the router which meant I had to manually configure a static IP until I had done an update of the routers firmware. I'm using it with a BT line and using the built in modem, seems very stable, haven't had any problems with speeds or disconnections, my only gripe with the unit is the wireless range. Considering on the Netgear website it states "Best wireless speed and range" under this product's page, I can honestly say I've had slightly better signal from my old TalkTalk router, I've even gone through and manually configured all of the wireless settings and my main pc still isn't getting the best out of it. I could put it down to my near ancient wireless card, but it's had no problems with other routers. If it had better wireless range and speed, it'd be a 5* for sure.

Excellent product!!!
Very good router with a brilliant range I have tried whatsapp calling from 25 foot and behind 2 walls and it goes well and uninterrupted.Pros:Excellent signal strength even from 50 feet you can use the internet it gives very good signal.Never disconnects, I use it 24*7 without any disconnection.Parental control for any number of users unlike Linksys which provides parental control for only 5 users.20 Devices can connect without any issues (I have tried only 20, I am sure it can support more than that).Easy Installation (Hardly takes 7 Minutes).Good Design.Cons:Didn't find yet..............
