6 years in and still a favorite
I bought this watch on Amazon back in 2015 and it remains one of my most worn watches. It has that perfect balance of being dressy enough you can wear it to work but rugged enough you can wear it out in the field, hiking, camping, hunting. I've done it all with this thing. Six years in here are the pros and cons:Pros:- size: I feel like men's watched are either way too small or gigantic. There's few with the right balance and this one has it.- solar powered: six years so far and no battery issues- durable: I like functional watches. This thing has been out in sub-freezing hunts and 100+ days. In the ocean, lake, pool, and around the world. It's still goingCons:- original band is cheap: I replaced this right away- crystal scratches/chips easier than others: this watch has probably one if the easier crystals to scratch and chip of any watch I've had. I do wear it a lot as noted but it seems to do it easier than some others- crown design: the crown size allows for it to on occasion get pulled out has I move through the day. It's large and seems to come out fairly easy. This causes the watch to loose time as it stops running while the crown is out, but it also pops back easy. I think this may be more age now and needing a tune-up with seiko, but still annoying. So there you have it. This is a great, solid watch that really can match your life speed. If you want a watch that looks dressy enough to wear in an office or our golfing, but can easily help you pull a crab cage out of the gulf or take getting tossed from a horse, this is it.

Classic style, solid choice
I had been looking for an aviator style watch for some time. Seiko's Solar Classic fit the bill. The band was iffy and at first I wasn't a fan. When I opened the box the band looks just like the picture. It immediately reminded me of the leather used for baseball gloves. That sealed it for me as I'm a sucker for baseball nostalgia. I quickly grew to appreciate the contrasting tones. Although, that did not stop me from buying some replacement bands with butterfly clasps. The second leather loop that holds the band will loosen with wear and since my wrists are smaller there ends up being a lengthy band sticking out. Another reviewer mentions that the band is around 1"-1.5" longer than normal. I agree.PROS:The casing is greatCrystal hasn't scratched yet and I've worn it most of every week for the past two months(?)The glow is brightSolar powered! and holds a charge for a month per the instructions.Keeps excellent timeDate is clear and easily visibleChrono is solidCompass turns smoothlyI don't use the alarm but the instructions detail exactly how to set and disable. Sure it would be useful if my phone weren't an easy alternative...maybe when aliens/zombies/robots/future overlords take over I'll start using it and the compass.CONS:My only real gripe is that the main crown is not a screw down. The rest are minor but don't mind themLike others reviewers point out, the compass dial will slide around throughout the dayBand coloring could put you off but easily fixed2nd loop will loosen with wear causing band to stick out (solid, stiff band so won't flop around)Compass is more of an aesthetic but it's fully functional and movement is smoothI would recommend any watch buyer to pick this up at the discounted, steal of a price around $150. I'd pay more if I had that kind of cash to throw around. This is a timeless watch that will be a regular wear and look even more elegant with the black alligator band that's en-route. And for $11 it's a small price to pay to customize this classy timepiece.

Nice design, looks great on the wrist
Seiko did a good job on the look and features of this watch. The case and bezel are highly polished stainless steel and the strap is a light, mid-gloss brown. Although I liked the strap, I changed it up for a red one to add a little pizzaz. The numerals and markers are not actually green as shown in the photo. They are white but change to a greenish colour when charged by light. The lume is very bright but doesn't last as long as some other lume. I doubt they're using SuperLumiNova but they should be.The pointer near 9 o'clock is the running seconds hand. The sub dial under 12 is the chronograph counter that totalizes up to 60 minutes. The sub dial above the 6 o'clock position is really a second time zone which they call an alarm. I'll never use the alarm but since this second time zone runs independent of the main time, you can set it to whatever time you wish to track. I've got mine set to UTC time. The only drawback is that the main time must be stopped in order to set the secondary clock. There's a compass bezel which I'll also never use. Unlike other reviewers, I've not had the compass bezel turn on its own as the crown at 10 o'clock is pretty well protected by the crown guards. There's a few errors in the descriptions, here and elsewhere. The lug width is actually 21mm and not 20. The case diameter is 43mm (without the crowns) and the thickness is 12mm. Pretty much perfect dimensions for looking good on most male wrists and with most types of dress.I'm glad I purchased it and found it looked much better in person than in the photos. Having it powered by light has the additional bonus of never needing battery changes. I also found the solar panels pretty much impossible to see unlike the ones on the Citizen Eco-Drives (which I still love by the way).

Typical Seiko, excellent
Only had the watch for a few days but it has been set to the atomic clock since day one and is still bang on time, perfect to the second. The watch is excellent quality and gorgeous to look at. The chronograph is simple to operate and the alarm function is also much easier to set up than some other reviewers are making it. Initially, the alarm hands must be set to reflect the current time by pulling the crown out all the way and adjusting the hands using the 4 o clock pusher so that they match the larger hands on the dial. Push the crown back in and check to make sure that as the time advances on the larger dial, the alarm hands are also keeping the same time. If you want to set an alarm, pull the crown out ONE click only and again adjust the alarm hands by using the 4 o clock pusher to set the alarm. It can only ring 11 hours 59 minutes in advance max. The bezel crown is easily moved inadvertently when on the wrist and could have done with a lock, but since it is highly unlikely that I'm going to be lost in the wilderness and in need of finding where north is, this is not a deal breaker.
