Sturdy, organic cotton blanket
I purchased the extra large Grund Sea Pines blanket to go with my organic bedding (fits queen bed) for summer.Goal: Find a well made, organic/GOTS certified mid to lightweight blanket to assist in ditching synthetic bedding/household products. This blanket is very well made- the edges are folded over generously and, stitched to last. No pulled or loose threads noted. The weave and, thick cotton yarn are substantial (mid-weight blanket feel). When removed from box, I detected no odor. Nice eco packaging.I initially thought this would be too heavy for summer. Decided to try (before washing) to gain an idea of warmth (house temp at 68-70 degrees). Although substantial, it sleeps cool, when used as bed blanket. When using as a throw (bunched up) it does provide warmth. Best of both worlds?Pros:Organic, GOTS CertifiedNo odor, nice packaging- eco friendlyTrue to colorFits queen bed with approx 1” overhang on each side, with plenty of lengthNice sturdy cotton weaveLooks/Feels extremely well made (attention to detail)Sleeps cool as a bed blanket but, warmer when gathered as throw5 yr warranty against defects in workmanship and material under normal conditions (some restrictions), when you register blanket on Grund. Not sure how this works via Amazon returns?Cons:Not as “Uber” soft and “fluff” as I would like- washing may soften & fluff. ? Not sure. Vinegar in softener bin may help soften.Directions state to tumble dry on tag but, insert states to air dry...hmmm- not sure? Can contact Grund to find out.For those with animals- this blanket “may” have less potential for snags compared to similar ones. Difficult to describe but, the weave and thick cotton yarn are unlike similar weave blankets I’ve owned. See photos that may help.See the 10 attached photos-Feel free to ask questions, I’ll do my best to respond. Let me know if this review was helpful.Update: re-read directions and can tumble dry low. Washed and dried blanket with no shrinkage and it did soften up. I believe with another wash, this will be “Uber” soft.

Soft, mid-weight organic cotton blanket
This mid-weight woven blanket is 100% organic cotton. It measures about 50" x 70" (or, specifically, 52"x 71" before washing and drying, and I haven't washed it yet). The picture shows the blanket lying on a Full size bed. I received the Ivory color, which appears to be natural white. I've been using the blanket when the nights get down to 73ºF to 75ºF, and it's been a comfortable, cosy blanket. It's not as heavy as a similar blanket which I once owned which was about the same warmth. The stitching is very neat, and the blanket seems well made. From label, "Made responsibly in India using 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton yarn under fair and safe conditions."Care instructions: Machine wash in warm water, gentle cycle with like colors. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low. Do not iron or dry clean.

A little care in washing for a great organic blanket
I got this blanket because we are ripping up the carpet in our living room, putting in a wood floor and adding a new couch, with new covers and... well I guess I could have just said we are doing a bit of remodeling. I looked at the company and there's definitely a market out there for this. There are chemicals in just about everything we use, and it can't hurt to cut back on our exposure to them, even if you don't think they're hurting that much. I'm in the camp that not everything artificial is bad, but I'm willing to use anything all natural that is just as good as something man-made.This blanket kind of has the feel and texture of thermal underwear, but is thicker than that. We're in summer, so this is more for show right now than actual use, but I'm pretty sure this is going to do the job when colder weather rolls around. It would be nice if they came in more patterns or colors, but I guess they want to stick with natural dyes. This is great for a brown living room and the other neutral colors go with just about everything, so it's not that much of a problem. It has good, durable stitching at the edges and doesn't feel like it will fall apart any time soon. You do have to be careful washing it. You can machine wash it, but you need to do it on hand wash or wool settings, and it says not to exceed a temperature of 104 degrees. I was wondering about shrinking on this, but it doesn't mention anything and I think that you should probably air dry it. I might try it in a cool dryer if I need it more quickly, but I think heat will do bad things to it.This something you will want for yourself, but it's a great gift for things like weddings or people who are just starting out. It even comes in a branded box so you can just put a tag and a bow on it. There's lots to like here with a little care.
