Seller OxfordshireEngland DOESN"T SELL REGION 1 DVDs (US and Canada)
This WARNING is about the SELLER of this DVD. US customers, DO NOT BUY from seller OxfordshireEngland. As for the movie itself, I have seen it already on a Netflix DVD, and I thought it was very good. The movie does stand on its own, but it also connects with the storylines from both The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2. Just about every review from US buyers complains that the DVD received was in format 2, which won't play on US players. Unfortunately I didn't read any reviews before ordering. However, I ALWAYS verify the DVD format before placing an order. At that time, the product description stated the DVD was in Region 1 format. When I received the DVD, neither the case nor the sleeve stated the region, so I had no warning that the format was Region 2. But when I tried to watch the DVD, my player wouldn't show the movie. Since I had opened the package, I knew the DVD could no longer be returned for refund. When I contacted the seller, OxfordshireEngland, to ask them to ship the DVD again in Region 1 format, this was their response: "We only sell DVDs in Region 2B format, which will not play in the US and Canada."Check the SELLER of this DVD before ordering, and DO NOT BUY if sold by "OxfordshireEngland". This applies to ALL DVDs, not just "The Nun."Note: the Amazon listing has been changed and no longer states the DVD format is Region 1. However, it does not state that the DVD format is Region 2, either.

Worth the watch
Was nice to see snippets of the conjuring movies to have it tie all the movies together. It helped using the real life daughter of Faminga since they look so alike. The very end was a stretch, but since most movies in this genre lack plots and good acting, I can forgive it.

Terrible movie considering it came from england
Would've liked to see the movie but somehow since it came from England it wouldn't play on my DVD player. Guess I'll have to wait til it comes out in this country before I can buy it...

monastery
a young nun who hasn't yet taken her vows goes to Bulgaria to find out why the nuns are being oppressed by an evil entity (spinning off from the film "THE CUNJURING 2" ) the evil nun named valek must be sent back to hell through the entrance through which it came with a sacred glass church vessel of the blood of Christ.helped by a village man.a good film to the cunjuring and Annabel films.NOT for children at all....HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Totally lame.
What on earth was that about.? Was quite looking forward to actually watching this movie,as I'm a big fan of The Conjuring franchise, but this thing missed the mark by miles. A great setting was completely wasted on a series of failed scares, which left me totally underwhelmed. The novitiates role could have been a touching performance if she had been given something to do, instead, she spends most of her time wandering around corridors looking bored. The priest seemed to play it by numbers and even the demon Valek looked as if she couldn't wait to be sent back to hell. All in all, a missed opportunity to create a new horror icon, what a shame, but in all honesty, I wouldn't give this movie shelf space

IN THE DARKNESS OF A REMOTE ABBEY...
Many if not most of us like to find a movie that will perhaps tie our stomach in knots with edge-of-the seat .chillers, think maybe i have seen far too many such films down the years to again find one that will have that effect....though, from time to time i do buy a film that seems to offer a bone-chilling factor. The film centres on an Abbey in Romania where it appears that a nun has committed suicide. The Vatican summons Father Burke (Demián Bichir) to .conduct an investigation into the incident and assign .novice Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) to accompany him in the task.In Romania they will meet up with Frenchie (Jonas .Bloquet) who had found the nuns body, he is a villager who runs supplies up to the Abbey. The Father and Sister Irene will learn of the Abbey's distant past when the building had been built as a castle by a Duke obsessed with the accult who had been entombed by Christian Knights at the site.....however during a bombing in World War Two the evil buried below was released when the rift was reopened.....Can the novice Nun and Father Burke defeat the evil that stalks the corridors of the Abbey or will they fall victim of the demonic presence ?The film rely's on the darkness, fleeting images (early-on) and creepy graveyard that has long since lost it's consecrated-ground status to create the atmosphere of the film along with gory-images in the later stages. For myself though the film does have it's moments it wasn't what i'd describe as scary, felt i'd seen it all before...........a film to maybe catch on the movie channel.

this movie the nun is worth seeing on dvd
I really enjoyed this movie ok ther are jump scares there but anyone who remembers the old hammer movies had jump scares in relation to the music so jump scares are really not a new concept the move psycho case in point too the acting was good to and it was very atmospheric, yes some people will find faults with it but you get that with every movie

THE NUN DVD
The DVD is good quality - it needs to be as a lot of the film is set in semi or almost complete darkness. It is a sort of prequel (?) to "The Conjuring" 2 films, and isn't quite up to their standard in the fright stakes. I find it annoying and frustrating when a director thinks VERY loud noises that make us jump are a substitite for genuine shocks. "The Nun" though, does have it's share of noise and shocks and works pretty well. The setting is very "Hammerish" - a remote sinister abbey only accessed by foot deep in a forest. A village with terrified locals and a priest and novitiate who investigate a suicide at the nunnery. Dimian Bichir (no me neither) is very wooden as the priest but Taissa Farmiga (sister of Vera from "Conjuring") is just right. When the scares come they mostly work, but less noise next time. Good fun and well worth seeing, just not a 5 star for me. Good sound and subtitles. (The Nun herself is still a scene stealer!)
