Great Expansion
This is a great expansion. I actually purchased it as my first expansion, before Heart of Glorm. The new figures are excellent and numerous -- you get three new playable characters (a mouse, a shrew, and an awesome gecko explorer), plus a whole bundle of new bad guys. Frogs that leap away when you try to hit them, newts with flaming arrows, berserking moles that get increasingly dangerous as they are wounded, flying enemies, and a giant snake. The extra tiles are also a nice addition. They are well made and very different artistically from the tile set in the base game, since most are set outside. Tree branch overlays can make existing levels more interesting.I'm only partway through the new campaign, but it's good so far. It offers more replayability than the original Mice and Mystics, since at several points you can make choices that impact further levels. For example [minor spoiler alert] at the end of one level you have to defeat an enemy before she escapes. If you fail, the next level if chasing that enemy through the wilds. If you succeed, the next level is something else entirely. The only downside I've seen is that some of the new rules are a bit more complicated that the base game. I've had to refer back to the rulebook quite a few times to make sure I'm playing correctly. I expect that will change after playing the game more, though. If you liked the original Mice and Mystics, this will work for you as well.

very fun collaborative board adventure game
I play this with my 7 year old. Almost every weekend for several months now, playing Mice and Mystics has been the highlight of the weekend. There is definitely enough here to keep us busy and to provide a challenge. The story is fun and the game dynamics are enough to keep us going. We have also been having a good time painting the figures. If you're looking for a DnD light board game to play with little ones, this is a good one.

A Must for Mice and Mystics Fan
High quality pieces and very detailed. The boards are of the same high quality and color as the original. This is an expansion, so the core game is needed to play. You will use the original characters and a couple of new ones.

This expansion makes the game
In my opinion, you need this expansion if you have the base game. This expansion adds so much to the game and also improves upon some of the other elements of the base game by having cards that replace cards from the base game, etc.

Even better than the original!
I love this expansion so much! It actually contains more than the base game, so the price didn't bother me. Among the new heroes is my favourite character, Ditty the shrew. She is so adorable and fun to play, especially for those of us who enjoy playing bard-type characters. I think the writing got even better, and there's a lot of replay value in this one, as it's less linear than the first game. The art is just as beautiful as last time, with a vibrant outdoor theme. I call this a must-play for anyone who enjoyed the base game.

Fantastic game, great for older kids.
This game is dense, and you need the original game, but the story is fantastic. The difficulty is high, so we bent a few rules when the game stopped after one character "death", and kept going until we met the win condition. The art is beautiful, gameplay is fun and varied. Lots of people put a ton of love into this game, and it shows.
