Kinetic inRIDE Watt Meter

Willing to give it a chance, with time new IoT devices with an app usually improve quickly with dedication to development. I rolled the dice and sad to report, more than a week into this it remains a black wart on my rock n roll.I am currently working with Kinetic support to answer complete other steps and will add stars if it can be made to work, but I am running out of time and patience to invest in Kinetic. Sensor doesn't appear to transmit any power or speed data, only a ridiculous cadence value (7000-250000). Suspect only successful path will be to replace the hardware to try again.Testing with Rock N Roll trainer, road bike and trainer tire. Samsung Galaxy 5 with latest updates, that works perfectly with Wahoo sensors, including passing data from Wahoo sensors through Zwift app on phone to Zwift online to ride (minus InRide data).Changed battery, Updated app, Disabled WiFi on phone and other devices, Tightened 2 turns, increased 1/4 turns at a time until more than 3 full turns reached, Calibration unsuccessful as soon as you can tap the button to start the process.

The great thing about this product is the fact that Amazon will let you return it for a refund. The power meter would not pair with my Samsung S8, nor my wife's Samsung S7, nor my childs Asus Zenphone.I went on to add the app that goes along with this Power Meter. The app is so buggy that I could not set up an account using the app. I kept receiving errors and instructed to open a ticket. I was finally able to register an account with the website. I then tries to log into the app but was now seeing a different error.I went to the website and there was no obvious way to open a ticket. I had to log out of my account then poke around the website until I found the support forums which was finally able to enter a ticket. Their response: replace the battery which I did already. I humored them and replaced a new battery with a new battery still no luck. Time to buy a Wahoo.:

I ended up returning this. Why on earth Kinetic would not put ANT+ and use only a closed BLE is beyond my understanding. It was brought to their attention during development and they stuck to their guns that it wasn't necessary. I've since moved to another brand who listens to customers.

I read the reviews, but hoped for the best. The inRide Pod I received never showed any numbers. I was able to get the pod to connect to the Kinetic app, but that is as far as I got. I contacted customer support, and got no more help than I could find myself googling the issue and from forums. Very disappointed by this product, and really makes me reconsider what brand smart trainer I will buy when I upgrade. No zwifting yet for me. Save your money and don't make the same mistake I did purchasing this.

When it works it's great. I must admit that there is sometimes problem getting it connected. Removing the battery and restarting he application usually does the trick, but this is a real pain in the butt. Also the calibration process is a bit of a hassle and without the calibration it's pretty worthless. It really should be calibrated during each use (after 10 min warmup) for consistent power numbers. I use it mostly with TrainerRoad and my macbook. Don't make the mistake of pairing it with more than one device, like a iPhone and your laptop. The inRide will get confused. Stick with one device. Really wish there was a Reset button on it so I didn't have to remove the battery when it does act up. I also suspect the mounting location, at the back of the trainer, is one of the reasons for the connection issues the it seems to have.

This is awesome! I got this unit and an old Rock N Roll trainer for $100 and I was tearing it up on Zwift! Buy this now if you have a Kinetic fluid trainer! The calibration thing is a bit of a hassle, it would be nice if there were a way to calibrate from the zwift app. That isn’t realize the devices fault tho, so I’ll srill give five stars!

The review about it being great when it works is right. My rockNroll is awesome but I needed power for Zwift, etc. Purchased in Dec16 and tried over winter break to much success. Next time I got on my bike, iPhone/iPad couldn't find. Tried new battery, apps, devices, etc to no avail over 2 hours. Finally gave up and just started riding outside again. There's mention of a 2.0 device in other reviews. I wrote Kurt Kinetic today to see if they have an answer. To be continued...

Easy to install and it works just fine. I had a few glitches at first with connections, but I found that the battery was dead, so I replaced it and had the same issue. I noticed the battery tab was not making good contact, so bent it out slightly and out it back together. Works 100% of the time now!

Easy to install, power reading great but cadence reading nowhere near. The app is ok but you need to subscribe and pay to get the full use.

Works but there were no instructions

It took me almost an hour to get this working with my Android 8.1 phone. The problem is that there is no feedback in the setup steps so that if something doesn't work you immediately need to start debugging. For example,There is no indication that the device has powerThere is nothing on the device that indicates that it is waiting to be pairedThere is no indication on the device that it has been pairedThere is no indication on the device that it is detecting/measuring inputs (sensor magnet when wheel is turned)The app navigation for initial set up is atrocious. When you go to the sensors page there's nothing that indicates that you need to click on the link button to actually get the device to pair. And it seems I need to do this every time I start up the app for a new training session? And why doesn't the Bluetooth pairing show up in the paired devices in the Bluetooth settings on my phone?The default display screen (Display 1) in the app has terrible defaults. No speed and no time. I had to futz around and create a custom display for basic functions to add these most basic functions. And the calibration popping up as part of your workout (but not your warm up) is very unintuitive the first time you run it. For anyone that has used a GPS watch before this is way more complicated than it should be.I finally got it working after removing inride from my trainer, taking the battery out and starting again several times. This also compromises the adhesive used to sick to the trainer. Once I customized the display and figured out all the app oddities, it seems to be working correctly. The UI is generally very poor.

Great unit to add the kinetic bike trainer. I have used it for the first time this week and it has info and video display capability than I had expectedStill learning all of what it can do and found it easily connects to the a big screen TV as a second display thru apple TV so I can watch youtube biking videos as I am riding. I am finding out it is compatible with many more training applications than I expected but have only tried the Kinetic Fit app on iOS

I’ve had this product for about a year. I have not had any problems with it and it has made the trainer tolerable. The free software was great and I now use it for Zwift. I can’t really comment on how accurate it is, but it helps motivate and in the winter that is the main battle.

the polymer they give to put the magnet inside is not tight enough you may have to glue it !I didn't find a spare magnet separately sold

Great product but the battery is completly down...

Really unhappy with this product. The centrifugal force from the trainer is too great for the grommet to hold the magnet securely in place, even when doing a basic calibration. As a result it took a big chunk out of my fly wheel (photo attached). Avoid it. Super disappointed I wasted my money AND a Friday night on this thing.
