Great book
I’m not surprised that this is a great book coming from Jae. An office romance turned love, dealing with family business and HEA.

Cute Christmas Office Romance
A cute story of an office romance that starts as an innocent attraction and then turns into forbidden love. A Christmas ornament mishap brought two women together. Only problem is one is the COO and the other is a secretary in the marketing department for the very same company. I like that both characters are just kind people who are respectful towards and protective of each other. In addition, I enjoy how throughout this story both MCs help each other through their journey of personal growth. By the end, you are convinced this couple is meant to live happily ever after. This is a slow burn romane which takes place over the course of a year. Just a few love scenes. Some cute banter which made me chuckle. Definitely a nice Christmas read, if you need to sit back this holiday season and relax to a nice book. I was excited to find Jae wrote a book which features two supporting characters. Their storyline def peaked my interest. Really like it when authors are able to nicely make some of their characters cross-over.

easy-reading lesfic
2.5 starsF/F romanceWell, I liked pieces of it. The opening 20-30% or so was very amusing and had me the most engaged. There is a bit of a goofy and childish tone to the whole story, actually. I'm not sure if I mean that in a bad way, lol... but I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate this kind of lesfic. I associate Jae's style with innocence and virgins and unicorns and rainbows and there's a certain audience for that. Overall, I found this to be lighthearted fluff that veered into junior high dynamics. So it's not surprising this one is set at the company Kudos Entertainment, a Fortune 500 company that produces toys for children, lol. All the employees gossip worse than junior high and they fear and despise second-in-command Ms. Dee Saunders like an evil headmistress who paddles their behind.Enter Austen Brooks, the new administrative assistant to Dee's brother, first-in-charge. Austen doesn't know Dee at all and is soon involved in a Christmas tree mishap that has them both spending a long night together in the ER. Austen isn't bright enough not to badmouth this crazy boss lady Ms. Saunders she's already heard so much about, and Dee isn't professional enough to come clean with her actual identity.... because she's rather enjoying bossy little Austen's company and caretaking. So they bond under this 'sin of omission' and then the book goes on forever and ever trying to resolve this conflict until it's a mere nub. ack. There are cute parts and the book does move on from the initial conflict, but at nearly 400 pages, you could easily cut 100+ pages out of this book and nothing would be missed. It was much too long.I actually enjoy most simple, easy-reading lesfic... but struggled to like or even believe in these characters (as well as their attraction). They're just not very grown up. Dee is not very boss-like. I don't think we ever got much evidence to justify her "Attila" rep. And Austen is like a bossy little girl dragging Dee around by the nose. They seem more like two dweebs who work in a pet store. Throw in Dee's man-centered sexist family and she seems that much more like a child.meh. I think this would have been more interesting if the author just ran with the toy company and juvenile characterizations and *consciously* gave us a dose of the likes of Big (the movie)... because adults who behave like children in a company that produces toys had a lot more potential for humor here.I was mildly engaged.

SO GOOD!
This is my favorite book by Jae thus far! I started reading, and I couldn’t put it down. I started reading around 9 am this morning, and now it’s 11:49 pm. This isn’t your typical smutty lesbian romance novel. This story actually has a plot, and you can see the trials and tribulations Dee and Austen go through. The typical office story of boss and employee was given new life. I honestly felt like I was reading a Hallmark romance movie! Granted, there were some steamy scenes, so maybe not a family friendly Hallmark movie, but still! I will be reading this again soon!

Good book
I loved how Austen started working for the company and loved her job. She and Dee met thru and accident and fell in love. I loved that both of them finally stood up for themselves.

Must Read
Now I have to say I am not surprised that I love this book being as though I personally love this author. Her writing style is just so interesting to read and she always seems to get the chemistry between the characters just right. I fell in love with the characters right away. I was so in love with this book that I couldn't put it down until the end. The tension and that nice satisfying slow build-up was amazing and on point! The personal growth and development of the characters was interesting and amazingly written. There was that traditional perfect use of occasional witty humor that I have come to love about Jae's works. There was love and passion. The bottom line is you need to give this book a try.

Mean boss lady finds love
Under a Falling Star can be best described as a cross between Jericho (for the slightly corny and quirky humor), and Tropical Storm (because of the tough boss and sweet co-worker-falling-in-love-scenario). I say that to mean that the premise is not very original. There are dozens of romances about the mean boss meeting her match and falling in love with the secretary/admin assistant.Even though we're not being wowed by anything new here, there is something about Jae's writing that just feels good, when she hits the mark. This story is very light, and very basic. It's funny, kind of sexy, and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The ending was abrupt to me, with all the issues the characters faced culminating all at once and then the resolution, and then the end. A little rushed in my opinion. You'll get maybe 2 or 3 love scenes, and some laughs. If you're looking for a nice rainy day book to pass the time, or just something easy pick this one up if you can live with the price. Not bad at all.

A fairytale for the realist!
When love falls in your lap when you least expect it, the world can fade away...But that isn't what is portrayed in this wonderful story. This couple do their jobs, have family issues, take care of pets, and live their normal lives and discover that they are in love. It is a beautiful slow burn with a HEA.Love it and definitely recommend! Getting the next book as well.

Where do you find a Dee?
Where do you find a Dee?Austen hates first days, and the first day at her new job was going well until the star from the top of the lobby Christmas tree she was tasked with decorating hits falls and hits Dee on the head. Austen ends up at hospital with her, but it’s unknown to her who Dee really is. Dee finds herself attracted to Austen and blames her latest head injury because it can’t possibly be anything else, and given her position in the company, she is determined not to fall for Austen.I loved this!!! Why did I wait so long to read it? It was such a cute story, festive to start but magical past the holiday season as it unfolded a whirlwind of romance for two unlucky in love women. Dee had to be the easiest Ice Queen to ever melt, but only for Austen, and I adored them together. Even when Austen learned who Dee was, she couldn’t just walk away and despite everything that would be threatened by their relationship developing past friendship, I loved wishing and hoping it was going to.They had amazing chemistry that excited me. Even though Austen has been through so much, she’s so uplifting, positive and just full of light and love. What she brings out in Dee is amazing, and I loved Dee when I was hearing all about her Ice Queen persona from the gossiping employees enlightening Austen on her first day, but with each chapter I just loved Dee more and more and more. God, she was adorable, and I want a Dee! Everything about her and Austen being together just made my heart happy and gave me tingles!A few moments were really intense, but all the cute moments that transpired, acts of fate, and the more dramatic moments were all worth it, and all amazing! This is just another example of how amazingly talented Jae is in delivering romantic stories, and this one was so cute. It is definitely another one of my top reads, making it even more impossible to pick a favourite story of hers.I can’t recommend this story enough, and I can’t wait to read it again and I hope we will see Dee and Austen again in future.

Sweet, workplace romance
Easy-reading romance that’s low on angst and high on smile factor – 4 StarsAusten dreads first days at work, but her initial task of decorating the company’s Christmas tree seems to go well, that is until the star tree-topper is dislodged and hits COO, Danielle (Dee) Saunders. Renowned among gossip-mongers for being impossible to please, having a quick temper, and ruthless when it comes to dismissing employees that fall short of her high standards, Dee finds herself inexplicably tolerant of Austen’s insistence on taking her to the emergency room…A relationship is simply not an option workaholic Dee thinks she can afford, but being with Austen shows Dee life can be fun and she finds she can relax her ice-queen image. As far as the company goes though, relationships between staff are not only discouraged but actively stamped-out and, having been duped by her previous partner, Austen worries a relationship with Dee might end in just another heartbreak. This is a sweet, slow-burn romance which, despite the seemly impossible scenario, is actually very low on angst. Both Dee and Austen are likeable characters, and I really enjoyed the way the dynamics of their personal relationship contrasted with those they shared in the workplace. When it was just the two of them, Dee was often amusingly submissive while Austen frequently displayed a strong, feisty side to her character. A light and fun story, but it is rather twee.Overall: An easy-to-read, slow-burn romance with plenty of lighter moments.

Enjoyable easy read
A really enjoyable book which I finished in less than a day. Pleasant characters that grow on you. Don't listen to the 1-star review that says Austen was unpleasant... she didn't come across that way at all to me and I am an avid reader. Not much angst, just a bit of history and a bit of tension due to an understandably difficult situation that needed to be surmounted somehow. The book would have been worth 5 stars if the HEA had been developed a bit further. As it is, it is worth a solid 4.3 stars IMHO.Favourite character... definitely Toby! (read it to find out who that is)

Heart Warming
This was a feel good novel that had me hooked from the first few pages. The characters were loveable and yuo were rooting for them from the word go. I enjoyed the storyline and finished the book quickly as I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know what life had in store for Dee and Austen. This is the first book I've read by Jae and loved her writing style. I'm already eyeing up the next book to read by her !

A tale of inconvenient love and growth! Beautiful!
A reakly sweet tale of an "ice queen" who really isn't thawing due to a girl who has kept to herself. Austen is a kind, firebrand of a woman and Dee is the absolute alpha of a COO.Watching their relationship develop as they work out what matters in the face of contrasting family loyalties and corporate pressures is an absolute pleasure.
