Perfect for Matcha Tea & Cappuccino--Inexpensive & It WORKS
This is the perfect mini-mixer for cappuccino and matcha tea--insert 2 AA batteries, flip the switch & GO!I bought this for myself, to quickly mix my matcha tea The Tao of Tea, Liquid Jade Powdered Matcha Green Tea, Loose Leaf, 3-Ounce Tin.Using a pre-medieval bamboo whisk (like this: Japanese Tea Ceremony Chasen Bamboo Whisk 120-tate ) for this task just did not appeal to me, especially when they are relatively fragile, less than sanitary, & easily cost twice what this little device does. Yes, I'm an iconoclast. No Green Tea Ceremony for me--just tons of antioxidants. This weighs just a few ounces & stores easily on its flat end, tucked in the corner of a kitchen cabinet. Just use, rinse, turn on to sling off water, rinse again & dry and you're done. Quick, easy, and effective. It also produces a beautiful froth in mere seconds.Added bonus: my hubby likes a mocha cappuccino (from a dry mix) every morning & this mixes it much, much quicker and much, much better than I ever could with a mere spoon. And if you hold the mixing head at about a 30 degree angle near the top of the cappuccino for about 3 seconds, you can get a great coffeeshop froth.I'm not sure how durable this will prove to be, but it works great and makes WONDERFUL matcha.

Cheap and works
After reading several reviews, I just had to try this little Ikea milk frother out for myself. While it's not extremely obvious what kind of batteries to use (had to come back here online to learn it takes two Double-A's) or which way they get placed inside, once it's all set up, this frother works really well. I can start with just a small amount of cold milk, and end with a whole container filled with dense froth. Thick enough that when spooning it out, it has the same consistency as cool whip. It's delicate and inexpensive design leads me to assume that it will not last a long time. But if I get a few months of use out of it, I will be happy. This is definitely an option when you need a frother that works great, for as little cost as possible.

TRUST ME - Do Not buy this item!
I wish I could choose zero stars. First let me say, I am so disappointed to find something of this low quality on Amazon. Seriously, it has the same quality of something that you might win at a carnival if you ring the goldfish bowl. And I am not exaggerating! I took the screws out so that I could take the back off to install batteries. When the back popped off the entire unit fell to pieces and that is no exaggeration either! Even the little switch on the side that you would use to turn it on came out. The battery housing came out, the wand itself came out.......... Oh gee, why even bother to keep going. You get the idea. And you also get what you pay for! I didn't even want it to froth milk, I just wanted it to mix solutions in my hobbies. That's why I would have been ok if it wasn't the best milk frother in the world. I just wanted an inexpensive aerator! Guess I'll be in Bed Bath and Beyond tomorrow!!!!!!!! Careful if you order. You may end up with the one I'm sending back, if they can get it back together!

Good for the price
I went in search for a low cost alternative to buying my grande chai latte every morning. Armed with my grocery store chai concentrate, I went online to look for a milk frother to finish the job. There were some more expensive versions with some decent reviews available as well, but I went for the Ikea frother. I didn't want to put in a lot of $$ into the purchase in case it didn't work well, or I just couldn't give up my Starbucks. It looked a bit cheap when it came in the mail, but I thought the quality was good for the price. I've been experimenting with making my lattes for a few weeks. It works OK. It does create foam, although not a lot. I'm not sure if that's due to this specific model or just how hand frothers work in general. But, it did a good enough job to save me from going out to buy my chai every morning. I definitely saved a lot of $$ since I bought it and I dont' regret the purchase.Bottom line...It works as well as you can expect for the price. It's been durable and the batteries are still going strong.

Does an acceptable job, for the price
From reading the other reviews, it seems like this milk frother is hit or miss. I deemed it worth a shot and purchased it here on Amazon, as I don't have an IKEA nearby. You get what you pay for, so I didn't expect super high quality and I wasn't disappointed. It only has an on and off switch and a latch for the batteries. It simply takes 2 AA batteries, and you just slide them right in and close it back up - no screwdriver involved (as one reviewer mentioned). The plastic handle and the wire frother seem fairly sturdy and I expect it to hold up for quite a while. The only thing I wish were different is if there was a cover for the wire end so that it does not get hung or bent by other utensils while stored. This is the first milk frother I have owned, so I cannot compare it to others. I was getting it just to use occasionally when I have extra time in the morning to spend on breakfast. Fresh, fully charged batteries are best to use with this product. If not, it will slow down a lot when the tip is fully submerged. I have not been able to get a huge amount of froth with the time I've spent with it so far, but it's enough to spruce up my cup of coffee with a little foam. I will look into tips for its use and post an update along with any additional information after I have used it for a while or if it breaks.
