Amazon Basics Mechanic's Socket Set - 145- Piece

I was worried buying this as there are so many bad reviews about cheap socket sets splitting under heavy load. I bought the set to extract a couple of really locked in 14mm nuts. It did the job really easily. The weight of the set is a good sign. Everything is heavy - there is a lot of steel in this. There is a lot of variety in the smaller sizes (13mm and below) parts including metric and imperial sizes. The two spanner arms are strong and solid. There is very little above this size though. Personally I'd have preferred a few more at the large end rather than so much doubling up down low. The addition of a cheap screwdriver set is utterly pointless as nobody buying a large socket set is not going to own something far superior already. The case is also slightly annoying as its hard to get the pieces out of the plastic moulding. Thats about all the screwdriver set is useful for! Still amazing value though and significantly cheaper than branded sets for what seems like equal quality. This is a really good purchase and excellent value.

Excellent bit of kit. Got to be honest I abused the 3/8 ratchet when I first got it and it stood up to it fine. Comes in a sturdy storage case which so far keeps everything in its place when moving. My last set, lots of sockets had to be put back in their place. It feels right when you use it. Ratchets have a good grip. Very happy with this purchase.

great set, ratchets are of great quality all socket are in prestine condition. The whole set is worth every penny paid.Now why did i return for a refund.The biggest socket is 20mm you get loads of duplicated socket sizes but nothing bigger than 20mm which is a fail for me.Quality you just can not fault

Good value ratchet set in good sturdy case

Yes it could do with a few higher sizes however for what I needed it was a good purchase I have used the set now and none of it has broken so good enough for me and at the price point I cant complain this is a set that will remain in my car at all times you certainly get alot for your money

Many jobs ask for a smaller size socket set instead of the normal 1/2” drive, this set fits the bill perfectly, it has 3/8” and 1/4” drive sockets and ratchets, the 1/4” drive sockets come in the normal short depth but also in the deep socket lengths which are immensely useful in washing machine applications ie the hose clips where room to work is restricted and the bolts often long. To get a set of sockets etc that is well made and wide ranging in its uses you can pay a fortune for them, this is so good I purchased 2 of them. Having been an auto mechanic for many years, but now retired, I do have a lot of tools already, but like me they are getting old so these I would highly recommend for those odd jobs, and I trust they will last for many years if looked after. You can’t get better for the price.
